I personally use AVG Free available at http://free.grisoft.com/
I used to be a big symantec fan but ever since they started bundling programs together their programs have become nothing but bloated behemoths that love to slow a good computer down, same thing McAfee's Anti-Virus.

AVG is good and so is Symantec. But, I have tested them and another anti virus program by Trends Micro. I have found that the product from Trends Micro has caught more trojan horses than Symantec and offers anti spyware functionality (which cost extra). Try their free online scan.

I dont think any 1 of them is good. If u really want the trouble free computing u must go 4 avast. This is free and really very effective.

100% AVG - Recently it was found that Symantec AV has holes that allow certain viruses to go unnoticed - very BAD!

Both are good. AVG is really good considering it's free, and updates often.
