I was at gymnastics doing a back tuck, I over rotated and landed on my back...kneeing my self just above my eye. Is there any way that I can make the swelling go down and my black eye go away other than ice??

Putting a very cold cut of meat, like a sirloin steak on it, boxers used this for years.

Unfortunately, ice is going to be your best friend for awhile. You've inflamed the tissues surrounding the eye as well as caused some blood pooling (the bruise) and ice will help with the inflammation. The bruising will take some time to resolve itself but with a combination of applying ice and pressure, it should keep it to a minimum.

In the meantime, the gymnastic story is good or use your sense of humor about it and make up some fantastic story as to how you got your badge of honor. Your sense of humor will relieve your anxiety about how it looks and others will admire you for the way you're handling it.

I've heard that you can use a needle and put a tinny whole right in the middle of it and let all the dead blood cells escape. I don't know if it works though so, I would ask a doctor first what you should do. Hope it heals first. Sorry my thing is more cuts from my sport. I know how to heal them not bruises. Good luck.

Rinse the eye in brine (salt water). Make sure you close it tightly, of course. It will help bring down the swelling and use a little makeup to cover the purple. Absolutely DO NOT listen to sexylilgirl_idealmgf!!! She is totally wrong!!

Cut a raw potato in half and put it over the black eye. It works on bruising but i've never tried it on black eyes. If all else fails, use makeup!

A piece of raw steak...? Maybe a lot of ice every ten minutes? I think you should try whatever people say (as long as it is safe) and if those options don't work, try hiding your eye behind your hair.

hmmm... maybe the same way you would get rid of a hickey. You want to spread out those dead blood cells and let your circulatory system carry them away.

Get a cold spoon and smooth out the bruise, like your trying to spread it out..

Not totally sure, but hey, its worth a try.
