I was incarcerated and released 2 days ago. I have been reunited with my 2 daughters (age 10 and 15) but we are homeless. We were staying with my Parents but due to them living in a senior citizen building, we can no longer stay here. I was seeking any assistance available for us , in housing , food or anything that may help my daughters and I get a second chance. We are in the Sante Fe Springs area.

Family Independence Agency or Department of Social Services should be able to help you out. You can apply for cash assistance, daycare assistance, job assistance, housing assistance, food assistance, etc. There's even quick response to families/people that are homeless.
Maybe there is a shelter nearby, until you can find a new place.
It sounds awful, but it's better than nothing, or sleeping on the streets with your girls.

Hi, I am sorry about your difficult circumstances and hope I can help. I did a little research and found a few things that might help:

You could try the Homeless outreach program: (323) 948-0444

You could also try the Santa Fe Springs Neighborhood Center at (562) 692-0261. They offer help with referal information and services regarding housing, jobs, they offer emergency food, legal services, etc.

For both of these resources, I've included some links below as well. I really hope this helps... I'm not from the Santa Fe Springs area, but this is what I found serching on-line.

Definately go to social services. I would also suggest asking about Wrap Around services to see if you can qualify for that program. Especially since all of you will need assistance and Social Services tends to focus more on the child. There are orgranizations that will help former inmmates get there life together especially in the Compton area. There is also emergency housing available as well. Some places have a wait list so sign up for as many as you can till a space opens up.

You need to contact your local social services office immediately. They will set you up with food stamps and emergency cash and may also have some emergency housing options for you. If you don't take care of it immediately child services might take your kids away.

Good luck.

Ummmm. Where did your daughters live while you were locked up? I would suggest hitting the local social services office.....hurry up, get a job and keep your nose clean. Show your daughters that living RIGHT is hard work....but it's worth it.

Try anything - city missions, women's/homeless shelters, contact your local county social services department, churches. God be with you...
