everyone says that they look for intelligence over beauty but what i think is they look for beauty and hopefully they find intelligence. what do you think? do people look for beauty then intelligence or intelligence then beauty?

If you're talking about initial attraction, its beauty before brains. Its hard to SEE if someone is intelligent. When you see someone carrying a bunch of books, it may mean they haven't leaned the importance of a book bag, rather than they're smart.

Society is so incredibly shallow - no man is going to choose an intelligent, funny, real, interesting chubby/fat/homely chick over a skinny airhead/ignorant bimbo. And most women will go for the hunk over the average joe/big guy any day. What people say & what they do are miles apart. Studies show that even new mothers bond with their babies faster if the child is pretty than they do if it's an ugly baby. No kidding - something as deep as that & beauty still wins out.

Well, when Allah (GOD) sent messengers, He sent them with good looks. because most people are attracted to what they see first, after that people care for intelligence which makes beauty more beautifull.
but if you meant by your question whether people are attracted to ugly other people, this will depend on the taste of this person. i've been working on arts for 9 years and i never found all people attracted to the same design. Beauty to you might mean ugliness to others and vice versa.
So yes, i think i agree with you that people look for beauty then intelligence (unfortunatelly) although im a good looking guy :p

Unless the person is a decent person, of course people look for beauty and then intelligence. Because people these days are vain and concieted and selfish, so they look for beauty, and sometimes that's all they care about. It's a sad but true thing.

I don't know who everybody is but, I look for compatability with my personality (fun yet serious). I don't care if she is beutiful or not. As far as intelligence goes, everybody is intelligent in some areas and not so intelligent in others. Just take you typing up this question. Not everyone knows how to type.

There is not any truth in saying it is this way or that way. It would depend on who your asking. And only that person can give you the answer for them. Some are attractive first by looks and some are not.
For the most part, most people see themselves with more flaws then others see them and will see someone who looks good and think that they would never be pretty/handsome enough for aomeone who looks that good and will often hang around people who are less attractive then they are to themselves in a way of making themselves look better.
We all want to be the best looking in those we are around and although in some cases this just cant be done it isnt because we do not still want it to be true.
It also has something to do with which level you see others. for me I like trying to see the things many over-look or take for granted. for example I find my beauty in a different way then many do. place two ladies side by side who are equally attractive. one enhanced with makeup done professionally and one with no make up my attraction would go to the one wearing none. because to me it is what I perfer. but to choose someone purely by looks I just can not do. I try to talk to everyone no matter what they look like. personality to me means more than everything else. everything else can be factored in but I refuse to go after anyone in seeking a relationship in based on looks. I figure I have time to see the entire person to find the best and settle for nothing less.

sure it is nice to have someone who is nice to look at but when they open their mouth and have nothing intelligent to say then what? deep down most people will go for looks over intelligence but the relationship is not going to last--beauty fades.

I think they look for both. You can find both everyday you walk out the house it's just being in the right place at the right time. if given a choice this is where all of what you said would apply. But seeing that we have our own choices we can find both of these qualities in a variety of people.
