Legals are punished for breaking the law, what makes ILLEGAL entry not grounds for punishment?

Legals do commit crimes and illegals add to the existing problem.

Because our government really isn't about law-and-order, right now they're trying to scam us into buying off on their garbage...
they have ethics problems, conflict-of-interest problems, money problems, all-of-the-above problems, lots n lots of problems, and all kinds of people trying to bend the legal system around to their liking instead of just honest, straight-up law enforcement.

The voters are standing up, though, and calling Congress on their shaky stand on the border issue...

Not every violation of the law is a criminal violation.

Entering the country illegally is not a criminal violation, at least not yet. Just like speeding and littering are not criminal violations. Anyone who speeds gets a fine, including an "illegal", and an "illegal" also gets deported. Any "illegal" discovered in this country is deported. (And you are simply playing word games if you think deportation isn't punishment.)

An illegal convicted of a crime gets a sentence; if, for example, the sentence includes jail time, the "illegal" usually serves the jail time in the US, and is deported afterwards. Sometimes the US decides it is cheaper, etc., simply to deport them first. Usually the understanding is that they will face jail time in the country they are deported to, but often it doesn't happen.

Illegals are commiting a crime by being illegal, so they are punished. And Jedi...that is not a Liberal idea. The Liberals don't give illegal immigrants our money. Isn't amnesty Bush's idea in the guest worker program? It may not call it amnesty, but ultimately, it's amnesty. And way to go making this a partisan issue...it's an immigration issue, not Democrat vs. Republican. You just couldn't resist yourself, could you?

Illegal aliens are deported, but if I have to choose between breaking the laws, I prefer an illegal alien to cross the border instead of seeing in the news that another child had been molested or abducted by an American Citizen.....

If you break the law you should be punished, legal or not. And, if you are an illegal your punishment should be a one way ticket back to your own country, unless it is for a felony like rape or murder.

Those that are here illegally are breaking laws, several of them, just by being here. Their criminal actions show they have no respect for OUR laws or OUR country. They are not wanted here and neither are they WORTHY to be here. They willfully break the law to be here. Only those that come here legally deserve to be here. The illegals are breaking the law and should be arrested and deported. If they don't like it so what! THIS IS OUR COUNTRY AND NOT THEIRS.

DEPORT ILLEGAL ALIENS

illegal aliens aye the main word,(ILLEGAL)
and they form gangs, break laws including rape and drugs, and yet they eat up our welfare system by the billions, hospital bills by the billions, which is why costs are so high, they take jobs that so called americans dont want,i hate to say it i worked some nasty jobs, and i didnt complain, the only complaint i had was the guys i was working for didnt speak english, and too top it off we pay the taxes and they live here tax free while we pay for them, and because of illegal immigration, minumum wage is what you make in Burger King,so the american that has to work and live in the Usa has to feed their children on minumum wage while the illegals eventually go back to their country with our money to invest in buying houses and cars!!!!!
They have more rights then American citizens!!!
AMERICA FOR AMERICANS!!!!!!!!!!!

Wait a minute, how are illegals NOT punished?
Generally speaking, if caught breaking a law, including immigration laws, they are "punished" and oftentimes deported.
Your question is puzzling.

Yes they should be punished and then permanently deported - I don't even understand why there should have to be any question about this. Do we have to question whether someone who steals your car or breaks into your house or commits ID fraud should be punished?

If we did half of the things that illegals did, we would be sitting in a cold cell for a very long time. I'm glad you brought this up.
