My hair is so nappy, and I have to wait a couple of weeks before I can get a touchup.
--I need styles too.

I suggestions above are good. I would also suggest that you "get to know your hair" i.e. how fast it grows and how often you need to relax it. I used to go by what the box or my friends said and only relax it every 7 or 8 weeks. if you hair grows faster than average or your hair is very thick you will be left with 2-3 weeks of unmanageable hair.
(ex. i get a touch up every 5-6 weeks, my friend gets one every 4 months) how often you wash it also plays a role, if you wash your hair more than twice a week, you may need to relax it or straighten it more often.

- you could also try to find a good hair dresser and let her deside when it's time for a touch up

Sister you beautiful just the way you are. You do not need a pressing comb or ceramics or any of those things. I came upon your question and realized I really do not know how to straighten my hair. Nappy is black people, do not run or hide from that . That is who you are and what makes you strong. There are so many natural hair styles especially these days. kinky twists, dreds, short hairstyles, etc. I think that it would be a boost of self esteem for all sisters to adapt more natural ways to care for our hair.

I am not knocking anyone who chooses unnatural means to care for their hair, just pointing out we are beautiful with or without.

My hair is really curly and thick what i use is Redken Smooth down What you do is massage the shampoo and conditioner in your hair for like about 2 minutes that's what i did and my hair was really straight and than get a CHI straightner and straighten it. My straightening time was actually cut in half by 25 to 30 minutes it used to take me an hour without the redken!! try it, it really works!! if not go to your stylist for some help!! they always know good ways!!

Personally, all I do is use a ceramic straightner. For best results, you should use one specifically for blacks. Or you could also try using a hot comb or something like that. If you want it to be manageable, try using hairspray or something of the sort which will enable you to then style it easily. Plus, getting it done at the salon helps too!

I have a remington Bumper, i grease my scalp and pull it out with the bumper, and it gets really straight it just doen't work in the back if you have really short hair. after i bump the whole head i wrap it and tie it up with a silk scarf, the only thing is the curl isn't going to stay so just bump the ends in the morning. but if you need to wash your hair try using the Shampoos and Leave in Moisturizers from nexxus and the Curl Smoothing Gelee and make sure you blow the hair out piece by piece with a rolling brush that way you won't have to work so hard with the bumper.

You Can wash and blow dry your hair then use some ceramic (or flat irons) to get straighten and pin it up or wear it down with a thick head band

Well the good fashion way would be a pressing comb. But now flatirons have taken over and another solution would be to get braids.
