No. It's in the contract.

Depends on what you mean by a sperm donor.

If it's through a fertility clinic, all parties sign a contract to keep their identities confidential, and the donor's rights and responsibilities to the possible child are relinquished.

On the other hand, my ex left me before I found out that I was pregnant. He hasn't helped at all in my pregnancy. As he hasn't helped at all, I wouldn't call him a father. Right now, he's nothing but a sperm donor. And you're damned straight I'm suing him for child support.

Define "sperm donor". Are we talking someone who went through the proper legal channels and went through a sperm bank or someone who just had sex and their partner ended up pregnant?

At this time, in the U.S. there are laws in place which protect the identity of a donor through a sperm bank as well as other legalities which do not make them responsible for child support. However, in the U.K. there is legislation in place which will open the files of donors to children conceived from banked sperm by 2010 so who know what repercussions this may have.

No. I think the point of having a sperm donor is to have no ties once the contract if fulfilled or sperm is paid for; however that works. I'm thinkin ya got the sperm, signed a contract and you're on your own.

No. When a man donates his sperm he usually signs a contract. The contract is suppose to keep your identity private so that no one decides to find you. So nobody would really know if you're the actual donor.

Plus, you're not the legal father of the baby so that means you're not allowed to pay child support.

No, there's a contract signed when you use a sperm donor that says no claims for child support or additional contact may be made.

If you can afford to be artificially inseminated, then why would you want child support. The whole point of sperm donation is to help someone have a child. And if you want to have a child out of wed-lock then your all on your own.
