How can so many of you sit and desecrate a religion that you truly know nothing about? It seems that Christianity is the most hated religion on here so do you think that there is a reason? For those of you writing sarcastic and rude remarks I must ask you if you have ever read the bible, new or old testament? If not, you need to ask yourself what is causing you to hate Christianity so much more than the other religions. Don't be afraid to research your answers!

For those of you who believe that Christians are evil I am sorry for your anger. The bible does refer to hypocrites who will try to turn others from the religion. There are "so called" Christians who live evil lives day in and day out, but to truly be a Christian is a decision between you and God. Everyone can pick out faults of others but Jesus did not teach of judgement but of forgiveness. If you have had bad experiences with Christianity then ask yourself if you/they were following God or just worldly views?
In addition, if you have read the bible I must challenge you to try to understand it. There are many translations (King James, New Int., etc) of the bible, but I have found that the Life New International Study Bible is an excellent source for a modern english look at the scripture.

People don't like to be told they are doing wrong. They also want no responsibility whatsoever, which is why they hate it so much.

I've read much of the old testament and was given numerous new testament as a child. I'm very much an atheist and have been since the sixth grade.
The stories in the bible are impossible. The stories in the old testament are ill-moral to even read and the two books contradict eachother. Have you read the last passage of the bible? Go look it up. The new testament is an abomination far greater then harmless homosexuality could ever be.
The books just don't make sense and were obviously written by a human far after two-thousand years ago. The facts are around. I found them and I barely had to look. Not to mention, the bible contradicts what science has uncovered for the past two-hundred years, when free thinkers started to immerge. Creationism is an evangelical american idea. It is not even accepted in any other part of the world. Even the histoy of math could easily disproove the bible. Just find a time line.
I've had a few discussions about this before, so I think it's safe to assume that you might feel like, how can a person that knows as much as me denie the bible? Much of the arguments I have with myself over religion ends with one thing. Can you have faith in the bible? I've tried. I really have. But the idea of a god is just rediculous. You have five senses and an imagination. If you can not sense something with your five senses, then it is in your imagination. There is absolutely no proof to the existance in god. The only thing you go by is your faith. Faith is belief. Faith is trust. There's just too much evidence that disprooves the bible to have faith in it. I do not trust it.
Also, It's not hard to throw stones at people who are already throwing stones. Todays christians are violent and disrespectfull. You need to remember Martin Luther King and be thankfull that you can live in a relatively free country.

I have read the bible, and i view that the christians deserve to be shown their proper role in the scheme of things. They insult the jews and muslims. I cannot stand that because i have not read a single question from a jew or muslim on here that attacks christians while i have read questions that are anti jew and anti muslim. I have recently read a christian question about weather animals will ever get a soul like blacks who have only 3/5 of a soul. I find that if they can dish insult to other people then they can take it. The christians are not the supperior mass cult. There is no superior mass cult. All people are created equal, destined to be born, live, die, and rot. These are the promises of life. I find that it is only the christians that answer questions with irrelevent bible verses. This is offensive because not everyone believes the same way. Christians think it is their job to teach the people of the world the right way, and they do not know their way is right.
Religion is just the idea of a man to help explain the unexplanable. Just like cults that are punished and laughed at today. Christianity formed centuries ago. Jesus has much in common with charles manson, they both lead a group of people who followed them faithfully. Christianity is just a mass cult and the bible is just a book of stories that were used to explain scientific phenomena that at the time could nto be explained but people desired answers to. It also acted as a book to help impose morals and virtues on people who supposedly were without virture. They were normal men who saw the world differently.
Christianity is a socially acceptable cult. That is all

I read the bible. I spent 8 years in Catholic school and each day we had Religion classes. I was also taken to church every Sunday up until I was in my mid teens. That's enough research for me.
Trouble is I looked around and saw so many hypocrites. They'd preach to others about morality, but they were selfish, petty, and insecure in their own lives. They'd be the first to stab a neighbor in the back because they were "looking out for their family" (translation: they wanted something). And if anyone called them on their double-faced behavior, it was denial and rage. Nobody could judge them, but you better not break any of their church's rules or they'd judge & punish you!
My biggest problem is that Christianity by its very nature teaches people NOT to think. It teaches them no personal responsibility. The message : don't take control of your life and prayer will somehow solve all your problems for you.
I also object to how some Christians want to remove logic & science from schools because it makes them feel uncomfortable. They'd rather have everyone's kids confused or uneducated than feel like the kids might perhaps not choose their brand of religion.
I searched my soul for years, and I decided christianity was not for me. I do the right thing because I live in a society where we need to treat each other right. If something bad happens it's because I didn't plan for it, not because I didn't pray the right way.

I've read the Bible through several times. I took an Old Testament class and a New Testament class in college. They were very interesting.
I think the Bible is used as a weapon so many times instead of a bridge.
We are constantly shown "moral" leaders who are most certainly not following God's commands. They are destructive and get the most press time. And we are painted with the same brush. THey don't see the people who try to make God look good in their community, their city and their world.

certain, I actually have. the following is a few thing you should comprehend: very last 365 days the Pew communicate board on faith and Public existence done a survey on non secular understanding. between Jews, Mormons, Catholics Protestants and so on. the gang which confirmed the most proper non secular understanding changed into - you guessed it - atheists. truly i'd inspire anybody to study the Bible. i imagine it really is taken under consideration necessary for information many literary references. also, interpreting the Bible will outcome in extra atheists. Many atheists are merely those who've heard the multiple claims that a particular magic e book - even if it quite is the Koran, Bhagavad Gita or the Bible - is so profound that it ought to were divinely authored. study those books and placed the claims to be ridiculous.

yes it is hated I believe because of fear and ignorance. The bible is full of beautiful love stories, tragedy, it has brought me to tears and made me laugh. It is living bread that our soul yearns for. It is Gods word. It tells of what has happened and what is to come. There is a book that speaks specifically aboout the predictions the bible gives of what has happened just inthis century so far. Its pretty interesting and some stuff I didnt even know about. It's called Jerusalem count down. Believers and skeptics should read this book. It speaks specific passages in the bible referring to what is going on in the war from the very begining. The bible is 100% true and real. Faith!

I have read the Bible and I have come to the conclusion that modern Christians, with some few exceptions, are basically hypocrites. This is not bashing the religion, just the people who claim to follow it.

I have read the bible and I am an Atheist. I didn't wake up one day and decide I wanted to not believe in god. It took a lot of thought and I came to the most logical decision. I don't hate Christianity, it is Christianity that hates me and my beliefs.

I have read the Bible myself, and have no reason to dislike Christianity. Christians, on the other hand, are another matter entirely. In my experience, limited as it is, Christians are rude, arrogant, and disrespectful of differing beliefs--this is NOT all Christians!! It is merely something I have seen happen in my community time and time again.
