actually adderall is an illegal drug (unless you have a Rx) they are amphetamines and are common on the street used for snorting after being crushed, the drug produces a high similar to cocaine and is just as addictive, please get your grandson some help

also note that the drug does not affect children with add the same way, like caffeine it will make children that have add or adhd calmer because of over stimulating nerve impulses

Adderall and pretty much any of the ADHD meds can be abused, because they're basically speed.
Snorting it is abusing it - and can have serious medical consequences.
Tell his parents, if they don't care, I would talk with someone with a background in drug abuse, and get this kid set on the right track before he moves on to something "harder" because he's no longer getting the "high" from the adderall.
His parents might already suspect something. Adderall is a controlled substance because for its potential for abuse, and his brother's prescription isn't lasting the whole month like it should.
So, made into something illegal - it is illegal for someone to take it without a prescription. It is addictive when used by someone who does not have ADHD.

You are correct that alcohol and tobacco cause significant health and social problems. If they were to appear on the market today I believe they would never have been legalised. However every country that has tried to criminalise these products has failed miserably. This is not to say that drugs that are currently criminalised should be legalised. All drugs have risks and dangers and these harms need to be minimised. Whether criminalisation is the best way to do this I am not sure because often it is those with addictions that suffer as a result of these laws by gaining criminal records and having to live with the stigma of being a "criminal". I am not sure this necessarily answers your question but its my thoughts. There are lots of things that need to be looked at in this debate.

Adderall can be abused, though I dont think it is used to be made into an illegal substance. Taking aderall, snorting it or orally, gives the same feeling as someone taking Speed.

Well im not sure if Adderall can be made into a different branch of drug, but Adderall is in itself highly addictive. There have been many warnings and TV shows dedicated to showing the effects of Adderall's addictive side.
