It's not a sin, but you might not like the reaction you get.

Sin? No.

The term Cracker is derived from blacks when slavery was still in existence. They would call anyone who owned slaves a cracker due to the sound that the whip made when they were punished. It would make a cracking sound.

I wouldn't call it a sin... but certainly an insult. I know I would be insulted.

I'm tired of you fundamentalist Christians trying to make everything a sin.
How can anybody deserve to be called a cracker?
Just calling someone a cracker doesn't really describe that person.
It compares him to a dry brittle food.
It's not a very good insult. I would laugh at anyone who called me a cracker.
Is it supposed to make me angry? HA HA HA HA HA Try again cracker doesn't work

Sin implies a mandate from a higher power. So, no sin is attached. In a similar vein, would you be insulted if you were refered to as a porch monkey? If so, do not cast those stones. What if it was deserved also?
And, perhaps you should look in yourself with the aspersions. I have, and I can live with myself. Everything has not been the fault of the "white man" (which also is a misnomer). For instance, Somalia is not a product of the "white" culture. You would have to look elsewhere for that.

Cracker is a racial slur. Being racist is based off of hate. In the bible it tells you that hate is a sin. So if you use racial slurs, you are inforcing the idea that you hate. It's just like using the "f" word. It's still a sin to say it even if you do not mean it in a hatful way. So I guess it's all how you look at it.

If you are feeling guilty, then I would take that as your conscience (and maybe God) telling you that it is a sin. As a white person, I don't necessarily take it as anything other than a rude comment made by someone without social skills. It sounds really stupid when you think about it.

Rude behavior from anyone is just another way to show your ignorance!

A sin? Sin depends on the intent, YRF. But calling anybody a cracker is usually unwise and rude.

So, just what is your intent?

And vice versa? I don't think so. It should only be said if it's funny. Like if Dave Chappelle calls me a cracker.

It's not a sin, but it's not right. Get as angry as you want with them, but leave out all racial slurs. You wouldn't want the name-calling reversed, and the racial slurs have to stop somewhere, if only one person at a time. But by all means, feel free to tell them completely off if they deserve it! (I'd have a bucket of popcorn with me to watch that!)
