there are several options, depending on how much money you have or want to invest. you can easily do one of the thousands of on-line travel agent jobs (independent contractor, basically). Just do a search and you should be flooded with responses.

If you want something a little more substantial in terms of marketing and support, you could try an at-home franchise option. To explore various franchise options, consult the Franchise Directory magazine available at any Barnes and Noble/Borders type store. Or, you may check out franchisegator.com online.

Finally, if you have some serious bucks to invest, consider opening a full brick and mortar type franchise. The above mentioned directories will have all of the information that you need on these as well.

Good luck.

There are a number of avenues you could explore in the travel industry. Since you want to start your own business, I'm assuming you mean a travel agency.

The best routes to take are to research the process of starting a business as well as the industry you're interested in.

I recommend checking out the SBA, Entrepreneur, The Start Up Journal & Nolo. All 4 are great informational resources for the new/small business owner. I posted links for you in the source box.

Associations may be a good avenue to explore as well. These organizations will address many of the thoughts, questions and concerns you'll inevitably have as well as many you haven't anticipated yet. See the source box for some relevant links.

Research, research, research – this cannot be stressed enough. Read as much as you can about the industry. Here are some book titles that are relevant:

* How to Start a Home Based Travel Agency by Tom Ogg, Joanie Ogg,
* Start Your Own Specialty Travel & Tour Business by Entrepreneur Press
* Start Your Own Travel Agency by Adam Starchild
* Home-Based Travel Agent, 5th Edition by Kelly Monaghan

I also posted links to some free articles in the source box.

Hope that helps! I wish you much success & happiness in all your ventures!
