Is he a puppy? We got a puppy and at first he was good but now he chews and bites everything. Work on training him as he gets older all of this chewing will stop. Once he is trained you will have control over him. In the meanwhile, work on making your house "puppy proof" that way there will not be so much for him to chew on. We have had our puppy for over 2 months and he is getting much better than he was. Buy him lots of chew toys because his teeth are probably bothering him. Ice cubes work well with my puppy. If you have hard floors slide an ice cube on the floor and he will enjoy it for a LONG time! Good luck! Remember they bring more joy than anything else. For more help buy a puppy training book!!! We have one and it really works well!!!!

You should probably teach your dog not to chew on just anything - like electrical wires. Pet stores carry a product called Bitter Apple. Dogs HATE it! This sounds cruel, but take a clean cloth and really soak it with the stuff. Then stick the cloth in the dog's mouth and give him a big taste of it. You only need to do this once. Then if your dog starts to chew on something you don't want him to chew, spray it with the Bitter Apple. This way you can control what they put in their mouth. It was the only way I could stop my pup from eating her own...'poop' - yuk!

When you brought him home, he was still adjusting to his enviorment. Now that he is more comfortable, he has started his own habits. It might also be because he's teething( if he's a puppy) And with that all you have to do is get a rubber ball that he can chew on. Another thing that might help if he is not teething, is obedience class, or even you teaching your dog not to do it.

He's still a baby and as annoying as it is -- you can try getting him toys, but I tried that, and mine always still went for my stuff. Almost like they knew what the cost was and always went for the most expensive things. It's not a fun thing to go thru but they do stop. Try keeping him in one section of the house (like in the kitchen when home alone) and putting all the good stuff up high where he cant get to them. You have to puppy-proof.

That is just what my infant daughter did. that is why people baby proof their homes when human toddlers are there.
He is just discovering his environment..tasting is one way of discovery.
Ask your mom if you put everything in your mouth as a toddler or just beginning to crawl....If you didn't, your mom will tell you of many stories about your relatives.
He was an angel when you brought him home because he wasn't comfortable there yet, and didn't know that he would live there, or was just visiting. Now, it is his home, so he wants to learn all about it.

He's testing his limits. You need to give him clear limits on what is and is not acceptable behavior. You also need to make sure he has things that he IS allowed to chew, since chewing is part of a dog's nature.

Whenever he starts chewing something you don't want him to chew, tell him "NO" firmly, then give him a chew-toy instead. He'll probably pick up pretty quickly what he's allowed to chew and what he isn't.

Oh my 14 week old pup is the same way. She'll chew anything and everything in her path. Get some sour apple spray from the pet shop, and spray it where you don't want it to bite, they don't like it and they'll stop bitting that.

puppies are like babys they put everything in there mouth. There mouth is like our hands. dont worry it is a puppy fase and he will grow out of it. in the mean time get him some diffrent type of toys that he does not have already that he might be interested in.

Is he a new puppy? Calm down they do that. He is testing his world My dog, ginger, is testing her nibbling skills by biting my fingers. She means no harm, but sometimes it hurts. Get your doggie some acceptable chew toys, keep small objects and things you don't want him to chew out of his reach, just like a toddler.

depending on how old he is he may be teething. Teething causes a puppy pain much as a baby cutting teeth. Chew toys will help. If you see him starting to chew on something, move him away from it, and give him a toy. He will soon realize that his toys are for chewing, not your shoes, and furniture.
