Afterall they are human too.
All a church thinks about is MONEY. Look at the Vatican?? Does it look like what HUMBLE people would want? Gold plated walls... art from every walk of life. The Entrance fee is about 25 EUROS!
The church makes alot of money by holding weddings. The more people who hold weddings there, the more money the church gets.
The guy is just old fashioned with the birth control. He wants your mom to "be fruitful and multiply". Really... more people to join his church... equals more money on the collection plate. Don't forget the baptism... and Sunday school... and Communion... all money money money.

Some priests are mean because despite being men of God, they're still human. The priest most likely got angry with your mother because using birth control is wrong in the eyes of the Catholic Church. Therefore she was not following Catholic doctrine and not setting a good example for you and any other children she has. Not getting married in the Church isn't technically wrong but it is preferred because then the marriage is recognized by the Church and the couple has attended the marriage classes the Church provides to prepare them on their marital journey. I'm Catholic and I've honestly never met a mean priest.

Remember, priests are human and they are supposed to be like our fathers. If your mom is a Catholic then she did not follow her obligation to marry in the Church and if she's on birth control, then she is not following Church doctrine. Good for the priest for trying to set her straight.

some priests are going off of what they were taught when completing their service to become priests. Thye need to understand they should not use anger in communication as a spokesman for the church

First of all, Priests do not have the Truth in them and are preaching whatever suits their fancy. They will twist the Bible verses to suit their wants.

Because, for the most part, they are cranky, frustrated men with no real perspective on life. Tell your mom not to tell the priest so much anymore. She'll be happier if she keeps her personal business to herself.

I think that we have to remember that priests are men and not perfect, and that some people's personalities will tend to be harsh. We tend to put people on a pedestal, but the truth is that they are just human.

btw, not ALL churches are about money. In fac the church I attend (and yes it does exist) has NOT ONE paid staff member, all of us (I lead worship with my wife) are volunteer.
