Have you ever checked out the profiles of some of the proclaimed Atheist? THEY ASK hundreds, (maybe thousands, from what I can tell) of QUESTIONS about Jesus, the Bible, God, Heaven & Hell, but then the EXACT same people turn around and say we are shoving God down their Throat. Why do they keep asking and asking, over and over the same questions...but when we try to answer they freak out? Seems so hipocritical

Isn't it GREAT "reverenceofme" that I have the freedom of SPEECH, and I can therefor capitalize ANY letter of ANY word, WHEN ever I deem FIT? Sorry it BOTHERS you. If I remember 5 grade language arts, the first, last & "important words" in the title of a book should be capitalized. Therefor your capitalization skills need to be questioned as well.

Fear.

Rom 1:18-23 For God's wrath is revealed from heaven against all godlessness and unrighteousness of people who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth, since what can be known about God is evident among them, because God has shown it to them. From the creation of the world His invisible attributes, that is, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what He has made. As a result, people are without excuse. For though they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God or show gratitude. Instead, their thinking became nonsense, and their senseless minds were darkened. Claiming to be wise, they became fools

Anger.

In my opinion, they are angry because in their hearts they know that they are wrong and out of frustration are striking out at available targets.

Hunger.

They are desperate to know the reality of the Truth and question seeking an answer they can hang on to.

Hatred.

Some are simply being used by Satan to try to trip us up, to keep other sincere seekers from learning about Jesus.

Because some Christians do shove God down peoples throats. We all need to remember God gave people a freedom of choice we can not take that away from them. The best we can do is lead by example. Show them (not tell them) in your everyday life why they should walk with the Lord. This is where alot of Christians go wrong. Thou shall not Judge. Remember God hates hypocrites. So if your shoving the word down others throats but not obeying the word yourself you are not doing God any favors. In fact that is what gives atheist a valid argument to use.

Jesus said love one another. Try that it is a much better way to win people to the Lord.

I think this forum is so important for just that reason. Anyone who gives themselve a religious label is interested in the Universal Truths - the Unknowable. Athiests have a lot of questions (because they truly cannot understand the mind set of those who believe in God) and so do Christians (who can not understand the mind set that doesn't believe in God). It's been very hard to talk about these things in person - I mean who has time enough for a long, emotional debate with every person they meet? How wonderful that we finally have a forum where these things can be discussed!

I think when Athiests say that they feel Christians shove their religion down their throat, they mean in person. I am not an athiest, but I feel that I have had a lot of trouble with Christians in this regard at work, in a bar, on a bus, from parents of my kids friends - jehovah's witnesses even come to my home.

Perhaps the Athiests who want to talk about religion here are in a way answering those people and are not actually talking about you and other Christians who can keep their religion to themselves or who can talk about it without telling them they are going to hell - because very often these discussions start in person with an exchange of ideas that degenerates into Christians spouting a party line like "Unless you accept Jesus as your person savior you are going to hell to be punished" and they stop listening to anything else anyone says - no matter how well thought out or valid a point the Athiest brings.

Sure - that is what they think, but they could say "That is a valid point, but for me it is not an issue because I do believe in Christ". If they did, Athiests would have to say "At least they listened to my words and considered my ideas". This forum gives the impression that folks will at least listen to any of our ideas - so let's talk about everything that has been on our mind, right?

Let's hear what one another has to say. It is all just ideas - no harm done.

Peace!

Yes, please list some names. Them maybe I can smack some sense into them.

I am an atheist, and since I've signed on a few weeks ago, I have asked one Christianity-related question. And it was not religion-bashing either.

Yes, I have seen people on this site asking stupid questions about Christianity and other religions, but I'd also like to point out the Christians and other religious people are guilty of the same thing. I've seen Christians and Muslims on this site who create an account for the sole purpose of inciting fiery debates (no pun intended) with atheists, asking questions like, "Do atheist ever question their own ignorance?" and "Why are atheists so grumpy?" If they are not interested in the answers (as can be deduced by the wording of their questions), why bother?

Oh, and if you want names, email me personally. I don't like to publicly besmirch anyone's good name. In private, I have no qualms.

Hypocrisy is not only an atheistic phenomenon. Neither are generalizations.

It is usually the born again Christians that I find hypocrites. I certainly believe in God, a supreme being and my culture and upbringing took me on a pathway to God through Jesus, is that the only path, NO WAY, different cultures find their own pathway to God, be it through Jesus, Mohamed, Moses or Buddha, all lead to the same spiritual being, God is the creative energy of all things and all life, God has no shape, no colour, no gender but is everywhere. The Christians that demand that their way is the only way are what turns people off and against them. And what is wrong with asking questions? I may not like or eventually disagree with the answer but would never push my own answers or views on anyone

The way I see it, god is shoved down my throat though policies in our government with religious intent. Abortion, gay marriage, even welfare is made a big deal because of Christan politicians. They seek to make laws based on moral rights and wrongs dictated by their faith. No one ever seems to question why we allow our senators and representatives to quote the bible as argument for or against a bill when our constitution declares a separation of church and state. My right to a secular based government is violated when our president, a evangelical, makes decisions based on his interpretation of the bible. I do not expect to ever live in a completely secular society, but unless that day comes my rights are being violated and god is shoved down my throat.

Also, please refrain from capitalizing random letters and words, as well as grouping all Atheists into one stereotypical group. I don't appreciate the stereotyping, nor do I deserve to be berated for my beliefs. I am not a hypocrite.

A Christian complaining to atheists about hypocrisy? Have you read the bible little one? Most Christians read it and proclaim it 100% truth yet ignore what much of it says in their daily lives. They make excuses for it that it was true for the times but not anymore. Yet other things they decide to keep around. It's not called Shaking the faith, it's called "think for yourself".

I write the questions I write as an atheist because the responses I get back amuse me to no end with their idiocy.

I just wanted to say to those thinking christian are shoving our religion "down their throats" I cant speak for everyone but most christians just want to share the love that their hearts are on fire for. We want to tell the great news. The completeness the dwells in us. We found something so great, so beautiful we want to share it with the world. I dont want anyone to go to hell. I will tell and be an example of the love I carry. It is a blessing in disquise that atheist are asking questions about God. They are wondering. Let them critize they are asking and speaking of GOD! I think its wonderful.Thats how atheist become believers.

It is a matter of two people speaking a different language and mistakenly thinking they understand each other. When an Athesit askes a question about God his/her motivation is usually to show a Christian how stupid Chrsitianity is. He/she doesn't really want an answer - it's just a rhetorical question. It is very important to an Atheist that people agree with him/her. He/she wants to win converts just as much as Chriatians do. Why? I don't know.

It's real life people, not forum haunts, that seem to have the worst problems with forcing religion on people who don't believe. Where I live, the majority of those that are Atheists shut up and sit back while Christians attempt to do a lot of proselytizing.
