Dominionists have largely usurped the local level political apparatus of the Republican Party, and are engaged in a sub rosa process to politically motivate moderate Christians under the false cover of religious issues such as morality and family values. The goal is nothing less than the takeover of all elective offices in the USA.

Their doctrine comes from the Bible, starting with the term 'dominion' at Genesis 1:28... “And God said unto them, [Adam and Eve] Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth and subdue it; and have DOMINION… over every living thing.” They interpret DOMINION as: “... a supremacy in determining and directing the actions of others or in governing politically, socially, or personally.”

They want to remake the USA as a theocracy... and they are succeeding.

Re: John M's answer: "The US is and will remain a constitutional republic founded on a belief in the God of Abraham."

John M, you are badly misinformed. This country was NOT founded on a belief in the God of Abraham. Most of the Founding Fathers were Deists... NOT Christians. This country was founded on the SECULAR principles that were expounded in the European 'Age of Enlightenment'. Read 'Common Sense', by Thomas Paine, and treat yourself to some enlightement. Several of our most important Founding Fathers (Jefferson, Paine, for example) were quite repulsed by Christianity.

References to 'our Creator' in the Declaration of Independence refer to an abstract, 'Deistic', unknown 'author of the universe'... not the Abrahamic God of 'desert monotheism'. However, there was (intentionally) enough wiggle-room in the phraseology that Christians and others could feel inclusion, and noone (hopefully) would feel alienated. It's called 'compromise'... look it up.

Get thee to a library.

Ah, another after my own heart!

Yes, I completely agree with what you've said. I have absolutely nothing against Christians who keep their faith personal, but the masses who are trying to involve their beliefs in our government are only beginning to ruin it. I'm afraid you've covered all of the facts pretty well, down to the fact that our government has always been secular. It wasn't that the founding father's didn't believe in God, or even a particular religion, but that they believed that this shouldn't effect their government. I don't know if all of the Christians out there who are voting for Bush were simply too stupid to learn what "separation of church and state" is back when they had it drilled into their heads for years during school, or if they just don't care.

The real problem is, people listen. People follow. They don't want to think for themselves. They don't have time to inform themselves and instead listen to the first thing that comes their way. I heard a quote once -- I don't remember it exactly, but the general gist of it was that people love you when you let them believe they are thinking for themselves; they hate you when you actually do make them think for themselves. This is exactly what's going on in our country, and frankly, it frightens the hel1 out of me. The U.S. has only existed for a little over 2 and 1/4 centuries, and it's already beginning to destroy itself from the inside out.

Thanks for the great question!

(Btw, I saw a post of yours on another question ... have you by any chance read The End of Faith by Sam Harris ... I think the "god that can be eaten in the form of a cracker" was in there)

I don't think this in itself is actually threatening the USA - but the consequences of such a government could well be disastrous. Already the USA have very many enemies that would see the USA flattened by nuclear bombs and various terrorist acts, and the current government (and the preceding ones) have not been as guilty of DOMINION as a theocracy would be. A theocratic government, in and of its own, is probably the most blatant contradiction of its own doctrine. And typical to many sects of Christianity it is driven by ego, more power to a few people, and blind submission by the greater masses - not God's plan, according to the Bible. A theocratic government would oppress the rest of the world if they do not comply to what they believe - this is not Christianity. Although the USA is already somewhat guilty of oppression it would be on a much greater scale if theocracy became the next order of government.

If they aren't, they're definitely in the top 5. The fall of Rome didn't come from invasion, it came because it rotted from within. If we aren't careful, we may wind up following the same path.

The US is and will remain a constitutional republic founded on a belief in the God of Abraham. The greatest threat to this country lies in forgetting this God who has given us everything. Please read Psalm 103.

No. liberals represent the greatest threat to America as they continue to tolerate and say nice things about our enemies. Our society has become so politically correct as a result of liberals pandering to activist judges and special interest leftist politicians. The Trojan Horse in this case is the liberal donkey (or ***) representing the Democratic Party.
