I dont know exactly what you mean, but you can go to the display settings and say you dont want a desktop wallpaper. If you got it from the internet and you installed it through their installer thingie, you might need to go to control panel/add remove to uninstall it. It might be spyware/adware, so if either of the two methods above dont work, try using a spyware removal tool. spyware doctor is what works for me.

I'm not positive, but I'm pretty sure that when you set a background up, it gets put into some system folder as a different type of file that you can't search like with .jpg and such.

Simply change the background by right clicking on the desktop somewhere where there isn't any icons. (The middle works well.) Then click Properties-> Destop Tab. From there you can change your desktop image. Most times in my experience, once I change and apply a new image, the old one doesn't show up in the list anymore. Then technically it's deleted. I'm not sure if it is still saved somewhere incognito on the computer, but either way, if you can't find it anywhere it's gone right?

I have XP too....to delete or change the background....right click anywhere on your screen...a table will show up...click on "Properties"...then a box will open, now Click on "Desktop" and you should see background...scroll down on the list and choose "none" if u dont want any and choose something else if u want a different background. Hope it helps!

Right click on the desktop, go to properties, click on the desktop tab at the top on the left side, then select NONE on the scrolling menu of background choices.

If you deleted the original picture off your computer, all you need to do is replace your background with another picture and that should get rid of it for good.
