That is not correct.
The historical places, people and events in the book are true. The locations discussed in the book ALL EXIST.
The Knights Templar, the Roseline... all of that is true.
There have been MANY historians that have backed the facts used by Dan Brown. In fact, Dan Brown got his story from reading those books and made them more well known. Long before the Da Vinci Code, people had come up with the Holy Grail stories and the royal blood line. Dan Brown just used them.
Everything in the book, is TRUE fact EXCEPT how the events tie together. There is little evidence that the historical events in the book tie together and that they have anything to do with each other. However, there is no evidence that disputes that these events are not related. There is just an absence of evidence.
So, it may be true that Dan Brown's story is true (of course not the part where the run around and stuff)... but there is an absence of information.
That is why there is such an uproar. The story that Dan Brown discusses is plausible and MAY BE true. This becomes a threat to the very foundations of the Christian church. The book is a threat to the church now because it encourages dedicated Christians ask questions.
The Christian chuch hides so many things. The bible only consists of the stories that the chuch decided they liked and they locked away the ones they didn't like. There's scandals, money disputes, linkages to the mophia...
As the story becomes more popular, the church is being asked hard questions that they cannot (or do not) want to answer.

I agree with Mimi.
The historical events in the book are true -- there is proof of the Knights Templar, the churches, the rose line, etc.. They found the gnostic books back in the 60's in canopic jars. In France, the celebration of Mary Magdalene is still celebrated.
If you take a look back at some of the traditions of the Catholic Church (please do not be offended, I was raised Catholic), a lot of its traditions fall into place with those of pagan worship, which is the far oldest religion, whether anyone chooses to recognize it.
There are many things that the church has hidden away for the sake of faith and keeping those with the religion. Do I believe that JJesus married? Who's to say? Perhaps he did, and perhaps what is in the book has some truth to it.
The book woke a lot of people up and gave them the courage to question certain things. For instance, St. Bernadette, who saw the lady of the Immaculate Conception gave the church her predictions as told to her by the 'lady'. Why did the church not dislose that information? Why is it hidden away in the Vatican vault? Why does a church that has their priests claim the vow of poverty have so much gold and gems for their churches?
The book itself is a great piece of writing. If it opened up people's eeyes like Holy Blood, Holy Grail, then so be it. There is no need for a society in today's time to panic at the thought of something different. Its a shame that it today's day and age, people are still scared to question that of religion.

nicely, apparently Jesus had married Mary Magdalene and they'd toddlers. So at the same time as Jesus died, he left his legacy contained in the fingers of Mary Magdalene, not contained in the fingers of Peter. He wanted Mary Magdalene to proceed which includes his artwork, yet as she replaced right into a woman, Peter took the most acceptable. Now, imagine that the completed base of Christianity is that Jesus died a virgin, so what would take position in the experience that they locate out that he were given married and had descendants? Plus, what in the experience that they locate out that the church replaced into meant to be accomplished through a woman? undergo in options that in many centuries women persons were the sinners, said as witches, tortured and killed through the Inquisition. The church thinks of the female as a temptation to adult males, so how might want to they probably settle for a woman because the bottom of their faith? are you able to imagine a woman Pope? i can, even if it will be an issue for the what? six hundred? million christians? it really is why the secret would wreck the Church. a minimum of it really is what i might want to understand. desire it facilitates! ;)

You are correct, the Da Vinci Code is not true.
People get offended when anything comes close to suggesting something is different than what they believe, especially when it comes to their religion.
