Depends on the laws of the state or country you are in. Generally there are 3 types of title, regular--which means the car was factory assembled and not modified, Salvage title--which means it was totaled but rebuild using parts off another vehicle or was modified, and junk--which means it's a parts car only and can never be licensed again. In some cases, depending on the law, a salvage vehicle can be inspected and issued a new VIN and a regular title issued. There are also some chop shops that will get titles issued in other states to hide the salvage title. So can I change it back to a regular title? Maybe, check the laws. Is it under warranty? No.

No. A salvaged car title is basically worthless. No company will certify it's good enough to be under warranty any longer, and you cannot change the title back UNLESS you make a full restoration to the car (such as an antique).

My husband is in the car business and I've heard more stories about salvaged titles, flood damaged cars and the like!

It depends completely on the state you live in. Some states just have you go through an inspection to remove the salvage from the title. Most states however the Salvage status is permanent and each state regulates how the vehicle can be sold. Check with your state DMV site.

in most cases if it is a salvage title,,it means the maker no longer is responsible for it,,under any part of the warranty, also getting a clear title on it may prove to be difficult to do,,because once one is salvaged,,most state,s wont give a good title on it,,there are a few though that will,,north Carolina is one of them,,I'm not sure of any other,s,,also ,,now most insurance company,s are not insuring them as well as they would ,,if it was,nt salvaged,,they will still cover it,,but the value will be lowered,,good luck with it,,Hope this help,s some.

In California, once it has a salvaged title, it can not go back. It will forever be a salvaged title. Don't know about the warranty.

now we are seeing a bunch of cars from New Orleans (flood cars )

I used to work a service writer at a dealership. I think the car would still be under warranty, but not sure. If something obviously damaged from a flood or accident, it would not be covered.

Some times a title can be changed if you move to a different state. Not sure which states.

certain, you isn't able to sign in it till that is repaired adequate to bypass a protection inspection. you won't be able to "do an same". you may want to get your own identify and registration for the vehicle.
