I want to be a Priestess, and unless I can get $5, my Correllian training's over. (see http://www.witchschool.com )

Is it possible to be a self-proclaimed Priestess? This is the part of the Pagan religion that always got me lost.

Are there any traditions in NYC (please, not Bronx, PLEASE!!!) that would train me to be one?

Furthermore, based on how you've seen me answer on Yahoo! Answers, do you think I have the capability to be one?

All are open to answer this question as long as you do not answer rudely with things such as, "no, ur goin 2 hell" or "Why be a Priestess for a religion full of false Gods? There is only one God, the Father the Almighty!" or "There is no such thing as God, it's all a myth." or ANYTHING like that.

Thanks for the help!

By the way, I say "Pagan" because I'm an eclectic, and I *do* know eclectic Pagans who have the status of a Priestess THROUGH Wiccan traditions.

:( What the first answerer typed came off as being a bit rude. Besides, Wiccans are Pagans.

Okay, for the $5, I don't have Pay Pal or a credit card.

And it's not "buying the title". It's "buying the lessons and tests so I have a chance of getting the title".

Paying money to a group doesn't make you a priestess. One becomes a priestess, like any other kind of clergy, through religious training & PRACTICE... witchschool.com's multiple-choice questionnaires cannot make you a priestess, they can only give you a certificate with your name and the word "priestess" on it.

I recommend you read this three-part article about them:

There's a free set of *good* witchcraft lessons online at http://www.annwnscauldron.com/temple/lessons.html

If you can get through those--very few people do--you will *know* you are a priestess and witch, and you won't care if you've got a card that says so. Cards are available at many places online, and if you get through some real training, you'll find that people are willing to help you get legally certified as clergy, or get whatever other physical notes about your skills you want.

To be perfectly honest, there are many groups throughout the tri-state area that can help you with your lessons and help you on your path to becoming a priestess. I earned my priestess title three years ago, however, I chose to be an eclectic solitary practitioner.

Should you be interested, I would recommend visiting www.witchvox.com, and researching the site for a place closer to you, and for folks closer to you to help you. A website training is nice, but there are many places to meet up with folks in NYC. NYC also has its Pagan Pride Day, which is celebrated every year, bringing together different traditions. Research it further, and if you are ready to take the path, than you should.

To be honest, you really shouldn't pay for lessons in this kind of thing, that is really a materialistic way to go about your understanding of your religion. You should find a mentor (prefereably a current priestess) who is willing to teach you as an acolyte. Teh wisdom of the ages is free for the taking, not a 5 dollar cash donation...

If you intended to be a solitary practitioner, there is little point to getting formal training that I see. It was my understanding at one point that those who practice alone are the "prietesses" of their own "coven" (The words are technically only supposed to be applied in an official sense, I think). I do not live anywhere near NYC and have never been there, but you could probably search on Google or Witchvox for information on your area. As for your capability, I have no idea, and am not really qualified to answer that.

'Pagan' is not a religious concept! You are obviously speaking of Wicca. You have a LONG way to go, before you understand enough to be a 'Priestess', hon...wisdom comes with age. You are still way too young. Sorry.

Being Wiccan, is also being pagan. Being pagan does NOT mean being Wiccan. I am pagan, I am NOT Wiccan.

(no offence intended, btw. I just like to clarify potential misunderstandings.)

Most likely, if you do find someone to train you, it will cost more than $5. The only place I know of near me in CT that trains is $100 a month, and I don't believe it even gets you to Priestesshood. Your best bet is to look on www.witchvox.com to find covens in your area, and perhaps someone who will be willing to train you.
I see no reason that you wouldn't be able to accomplish this, just remember it will take much time and dedication, but if it is what you truly strive for, it will be worth it.

No rules, so far as I know, for becoming a priestess of a religion of your making. As for an existing religion, you will have to check with someone familiar with those rules.

I can only speak to Christianity.

wow u went off!!! well first off, i hope you really do have a sensitivity to all religions, it is something a leader should have, whether u pay to be a leader or not (BTW paying to lead, is total b.s. i mean look at how the country is doing!!!) but you shouldn't have to pay for it, even $5, if you work hard enough and have enough power, then it shouldn't be a problem. i remember when i lead a group (not wicken or anything like that. more demon slayers), and it was givin to me freely by my comrades, not paid for. its really sad when the ancient religions start charging to practice..... this is a sad world.

I've heard that if you want to be a priestess you should take your clothes off and walk around Times Square naked. Give it a try.
