The streets are for public use. Anyone can park there as long as:

- They do not obstruct passage or driveways
- They are not parking in an alley
- They are not blocking a fire hydrant
- The vehicles are not left there indefinately
- The neighborhood doesn't have parking permits (this occurs is high density neighborhoods where there's a lack of available parking)

Other than that, she cannot legally have a car towed. This doesn't mean it couldn't happen however. If she does and a car is towed, you or the party that gets towed would have to file a small claims suit against the neighbor.

If the problem continues, call the police for advice.

>> the worse part is that normally, we can park 2 cars there but since the car parked there is parked in the center, we only can park one.. PLEASE HELP! and i live in SAN DIEGO. does anyone know the rules? You do NOT OWN the street in front of your house. If the car is NOT ABANDONED you cannot tow it away. How would you feel if you owned 3 or 4 cars and somebody had your car towed away for parking in front of their house? Sorry. === There's no rules that says that a person HAS TO DRIVE the car few times a week / month. Just leave a note asking them not to leave it in front of your house as you need the space. Most people will comply. Good Luck....

Anyone can park anywhere on a public street. No one can have a car towed if the street does not have "no parking" zones.

As long as the cars are in the street and not on the lawn, she can't do anything. Unless, of course, SHE wants to hire a tow truck and tow every car away. . . But that would open her up to an auto theft charge, wouldn't that???

If a car is parked legally on the street, they may park in front of anyones house. ( if street parking is legal)

some cities issue permits for certain street and/or subdivision parking, that will be different.

If the cars parking on the street, ( on both sides) were legal, but still blocked traffic, the police may do something,
Just tell her the number is listed under 911 and she can look it up.

Unless the cars have expired tags or flat tires, I think she would have to pay for the towing. In most states it isn't legal to park derelict cars (no tags, flat tires, broken windows, etc.) on the street.

As long as the vehicles are on the street, and not on private property, there is nothing that this lady can do to you or your friends. Just make sure that they are not blocking anyones driveway, or make a lot of noise. Should have nothing to worry about
