Because they can't have it, so they want it. Human nature. I've got fairly straight hair, it's wavy if I don't comb or blow dry after washing my hair. I would like to have my sister's hair, which is straight no matter what she does.
I think people just like something different from what they see every day. But with today's equipment, you can go straight or curly in ten minutes. Just have to find a good tool. I prefer for curling iron, Conair. And a good straightener is worth investing in. Maybe go to a salon and ask them what a good brand or where you get a salon straightener.
