If you have a farm or a place in the country, and a willing parent, you can start to practice at 12 or 13. Officially, you have to be 15 to start learning on the roads, at least in Illinois.

At 15, start driving in parking lots. At 16, you should be an expert driver.

in a car, you can start learning at 15. but to get extra practice, drive off road vehicles such as go karts and four wheelers. just remember that if you drive a vehicle on the road anywhere before you have a permit or license, you are putting yourself in a sticky situation.
