I've heard that it really is a problem, and I"m really curious what people think of it. Is it really and addiction, or just peoples inability to control themselves?

Sexual addiction is real and falls in the same line with other addictions including drugs. It's merely teh mind's over riding more important aspects of life for the feeling it gets from the stimulus - in this case sex.

It is not the sex which is to blame, but the make up of the person involved. Obsessive types and addictive personalities are most susceptible to this type of addiction.

Anything that triggers a drug response in the brain is addictive. Examples being Sex, Exercise, Caffeine, Chocolate, Capsicum (Hot peppers), and the obvious tobacco, alcohol, and drugs. Whether addiction is bad or good is your opinion, not fact. Personally if it harms my body or causes behavior that is harmful it is bad. Remember, everything is a choice. The question is - are you aware of your choices or being surprised by them!

Yes, it is a real addiction. Everybody has effective and ineffective coping mechanisms to deal with the stress and problems of daily life, unfortunately, sex is just another coping mechanisms and can be just as addictive and destructive as any other coping mechanism.

Yes, actually it is an addiction and is recognized by medical professionals as being such.

Like all addictions, there are treatments. You should discuss this with your physician and a mental health care professional.

Not a problem I would report, as long as I had a faithful, steady partner with the same affliction. (Blonde preferred.)
