All the time - when I want the person to think that what they're saying is funny even if it isn't....I'm living an LOL-LIE!

I use LOL a lot on AIM, when there is a lack of conversation. It's a way of keeping the convo going, without initiating a new topic.

It's like saying 'like' in the middle of a sentence, only it's in the middle of a conversation.

It's kinda weird when people type LOL, when something was barly funny....or I just think that.

Your question actually made me LOL. I haven't done that in a while! Yes, it is a bit over-used. Should be a rule: No fake LOLs.

Yes, all the time. I rarely ever LOL, I mostly just smile when I find something amusing or funny.

yeah... it makes them feel better, and i think that lol has lost some of its meaning. when me and my friends use it, it just means that something is kind of funny, not actually that its worthy of laughing out loud. lol.
