Do you think Religion is keeping mankind from moving forward as a species?

Personally, I do.

Maaybbeee....it really depends on what you mean by that.

In some cases, I'd say yes. What if we somehow /could/ find out the complete, total, and honest truth of how humans got here on earth, and how everything started? If we go on believing one theory and one theory only, there goes the chance of that happening!

Personally, I think people need to open their eyes - or at least be open-minded to the fact that Christianity is faith based, not FACT-based.

Religion is obsolete...spirituality isn't...

What I mean is that as a means of control religion through not keep up with the times has become obsolete. All religion does is create stife in terms of which God or how to believe in God. Mankind has been fighting over those issues for eons. Seems that to just be spiritual and believe in a greater power without the structure or dogma is far better than having the structure and dogma to argue about.

Humanity is responsible for it's actions and putting that responsiblity off onto God is irresponsible. I don't think I need to say anymore on this.

Nothing is keeping mankind from moving forward. Mankind IS moving forward. Maybe it is not fast enough for you? Lessons always take time and we don't always learn the first time. Example: Darfur... need I say more?

We don;t need to move forward as much as we need to know who we should be in the first place. And religion has decided we should be non thinking non human entities.

I think that religion is being used to start wars, erase people, and to continue hatred in this world. That's not what it is meant to do, and I really wish that people would stop hating others for their beliefs, that's not the point of being religious.

Yes, it has for quite some time. It's the beast, which is mind control. The belief in a god that approves of killing other humans has brought great harm to humanity, along with the shame of sex and the reprecussions when you interfer with that strong natural instinct of ours.

Yes. God hates Religion. That's one of the reasons He sent sent Jesus. Jesus is the Only answer. Only through Him can we know True Freedom and Peace.

Geeesh...are you BLIND? Mankind is on the brink of destroying itself and it has nothing to do with religion, it has to do with greed, selfishness, and a corrupt and dark heart.
