Turn to face the sun, take water when dry, grow only when is the season, why dont we say they are conscious?

They do not have a mind, or a brain. They are not aware of "themselves." We are aware of them. They perform functions of life that they were designed for by the Great Spirit and are a part of our lives. We were given a mind and free will which sets us up as the masters of other living things. As the masters of other living things comes the responsibility to care for them properly. Even if it seems they do many things for "themselves." We can build a machine that does the same things the plant does...........yet it has not conscious. It does exist but has not mind and therfore no conscious exist in them.

Because all of those actions are the by product or side effect of a biological process.

Where is conscious thought is the product or result of the biological process.

Because all those characteristics happen automatically for their survival...they do not think. All responses are just automatic not thought about and decided upon.

1.they don't have organs, including brains
2.they can't feel pain or any emotion

plants don't have individuality, they can't learn or process information they don't have personality so that's why we say they aren't conscious

because sometimes a person still breath when he is dead and chickens that got their head chopped off still jumps around
