Absolutely you can bruise a bone.

Yes you can actually bruise a bone...remembering that bones have a blood supply in them...especially the larger bones such as the femur.....you break that and you can lose up to a liter or more of blood.....but bruising a bone is painful but will heal in time.....

Your bones have a (sort of) skin of their on covering them. It is not actually the bone that is bruised but there can be swelling and retention of blood between that lining and the bone itself. Very painful at times.

I believe that means your bone "hurts", but it leaves no bruise in the area.

I think it's the skin's vessels are bruised,not the bone.

Yes. Bones are covered with an innervated lining that is called periosteum and it can become quite painful if this lining undergoes trauma.
