The deadline should be now.

Why?

1) We went there in response to two incentives: a belief that the Hussein regime was supporting terrorists, and a belief that the Hussein regime was hiding weapons of mass destruction.

Even though the UN saw the same information that we saw and said that the evidence didn't warrant an invasion, the US went ahead... and found no weapons of mass destruction - in fact, easily overcame the formerly bad-*ss Iraqi guard - and found evidence that the Hussein regime was not only NOT supporting the terrorists that attacked us, they were opposing them. (Letters found in the palace)

2) We accomplished pretty much all we are capable of accomplishing with our occupation there.

We have removed Saddam Hussein, set up a new government as of May 2006.

3) Our occupation is actually making things worse over there.

In 2004, the Iraqi people and its neighbors drew up a statement that requested the US pull its troops out and leave the stabilization of the area to them. In their statement to the UN, they reasoned that US forces would raise the conflict and keep the area instable... which is what has come to pass.

4) A majority of Americans want the troops home. Supporting our troops means honoring them for their willingness to risk harm and life in the execution of their duty... not callously putting them at risk unnecessarily.

5) Our economy is being weakened by the expense of this war with the excuse that it is in the interest of our national front on terrorism. Americans do not believe they are safer from terrorism because of this war. In fact, we could do a lot more to bolster Homeland Security with the billions of dollars being spent to continue our occupation of Iraq.

6) We are stretching thin our national defense resources, increasing risks of attacks from other nations or terrorists. Defense budgets are being cut, limiting our ability to provide adequate health care and new equipment for our troops. Meanwhile, Korea is taking an increasingly aggressive stance with its nuclear missile program, testing its 7th missile just yesterday... which landed in the Sea of Japan.

Our soldiers deserve an administration that will not put them or leave them in harms way without need. They deserve to not be hurt or killed because a President wants to "stay the course" indefinitely, without due cause.

The deadline should be when the job is done and Iraq can provide for and protect themselves.

I don't enjoy seeing any soldiers or civilians die, but we went there to provide a better life for the Iraqi people. We haven't done that yet. To leave now would be like leaving your chihuahua in a pack of wolves. He would probably put up a good fight, but would get torn to shreds in the end.

If the insurgents would just realize how much we want to leave, and stop attacking us and their own people, we would be able to leave. Instead, they attack their own people, destroy their own resources and attack the military that is supposed to be there to protect them until they get situated.

Oh, *and* before anyone says anything... I think the soldiers that have commited crimes over there should be fried. They do not represent why we are there. They have put our soldiers in more danger and forced an even longer time there due to more anger creating more violence. Idiots... in my opinion.

We are there at the request of the Iraqi government and a majority of the population. Stop watching the news if you can't remember the details and the good that has come out of this. As far as the war went and the removal of an evil dictator we were successful. It is not our fault that fanatics dint like us because we believe in the bible(majority) and that this action has given them the perfect opportunity to kill Americans. What would you do? Just leave and let a different type of terrorism lead the country? You must not be one of the typical love thy neighbor Americans i live near. We as Americans DEMANDED Bush to do something about 911 and he did in the only place we wouldn't fire him for and now it disgust me how so many people forgot this and want to QUIT. No don't pull out, FINISH the job.

No. That would cause "sleeper cells" in the war on terrorism to grow dramatically. You would have insurgents biding their time, waiting for the US to leave Iraq, and then a full scale slaughter would occurr and kill the people we promised to help. In the first Gulf War we left the Iraqi people high and dry after slapping Saddam around. The people that went against Saddam were then captured and tortured, and killed because we left them. We will NOT do that to the Iraqi people again. We will stay until they are ready, and trained sufficiently to run Iraq they way they desire.

Does anyone read what the War is really about, or do you all believe it's only about oil, and that we are systematically trying to kill these people, and that insurgents are good? Read, educate, use brains now. PLEASE! *rolleyes*

Sure, why not? Let's tell our enemies the exact time and day we are going to leave. That way, they know how long it will be before they win the war. It will give them plenty of time to plan a huge celebration party. Hell, why don't we just leave now? We could just leave all our equipment and go. Actually, do we really need a military? Why don't we disband our military? We could fight our enemies with words, or rely on our allies for help. Maybe we should get rid of Bush too, and invite Bin Laden over to rule us for awhile. All these options sound soooo much better than waiting for Iraq to be able to defend itself before we leave, don't ya think?

Iraq will fall to both that is shiite (likely) or sunni inhabitants who will installation a dictator who will be truly widespread in holding inclusive of his promise to save united statesa. out of that is affairs and to convey prosperity back to Iraq, that is going to prevail in doing both with the aid of that is strong ties with a rustic like Iran (if the dictator is SHiite) or Saudi Arabia or Syria (whose ruling individuals are Sunni) and with the aid of that is oil reserves. Iraq will rapidly grow to be an truly prosperous powerbroker interior the middle east and that is youthful era will be reared on anti-americanism after this era of career. that is inevitable, in simple terms the way it will be. The invasion into Iraq, in case you'll seem on the evidence because it stood then, and on account that it stands now, become in holding with erroneous concern and paranoia and a lie, there become not something good or accurate about the warfare in Iraq. besides, to cope with the full answerer, for the Richest superpower interior the international to ask something else of the international to foot the bill for his or her mess, which the UN tried unsuccessful to dissuade united statesa. and that is allies from, for each and each and every of the right motives, may be the height of self-importance and presumption- we are going to bypass in there, yet you get the bill.

I think we should leave when the mission is accomplished, that is the Iraq government is sufficiently stable to provide for their own security against insurgents. I do feel that WE meaning our strategists (in secret) should be deciding on specific measurable criteria (if they haven't already) to use to precipitate a withdrawl. Make no mistake...terrorists aren't going away, we will need to continue to take military action to root them out and destroy them wherever they are.

No, that would not be a good idea. It would only give power to the insurgents; if they think we have a timetable they will just pace themselves until we leave. We need to stay until the job is complete or the government of Iraq asks us to leave.

No need for a dead line just pull out now!

Our military is not designed for occupation like the old colonialist of Europe, we should have never been in this situation with leaders who have no idea how to fight a war.
