Our Corvette Price Guide puts the High at $16,500 while an Average 81 would go for $10,400. These Corvettes don't come with a lot of options that would significantly change the value. So other than having a 4-Speed manual transmission, option values are limited.
Our 1 year appreciation figure for the 1981 Corvette is currently at 3% and 17% for 5 Years.

OK.As a classic Corvette owner myself, people will look at any damage to the car, the mileage, and overall wear on the body iteself. The 81's arent really considered classics yet because so many of them were produced. Each Corvette's actual worth is based on how bad another person wants to pay to get it. 81 was a good vette, but the options of power were not the the greatest so the demand right now is very low. Have a friend trying to sell the 78 corvette which is the 25th anniversay year and he is having a hard time getting 10k for it. the shark bodys themselves are a classic design, but again it is all decided on how bad somebody wants your car. You can ask 12-14k, but be prepared to haggle and go down a couple thousand.
Good luck and if you have any questions feel free to e-mail me.

Dont know about your area...but in the Omaha market the non chrome bumper vettes of this generation sell between $5,000-14,000 depending on condition. They are also a SLOW selling car...alot of people like them...but not many want or can afford to own one. Good Luck!
