It's not a racial crime and it sounds to me like your mom is a racist. She is your mother and of course you love her but this is your life and if you and your girl are in love, happy together and understand what the realities in life will be from an interracial relationship then you owe it to yourself and each other to not be influenced by family or friends in your relationship decisions.

IM black and have never dated a black girl. Ive been with latinas, asian and white all without a problem. Frankly its all the same in the end. Luckily for me, my parents never had problems with that but taht doesnt seem to be the case of your mom. If you ask me, you need to confront your mom both you and your gf. Get her to sit down with you and see why she acts this way. Show her that her actions were ridiculous and that she should want your happiness no matter what. If your dad supports you then its all for the better. He'll be able to support you in your cause. The only way to resolve this crisis with your mother is to talk about it. It might not change her mind but it'll show her what you really want and set things straight between all of you. Also, dont forget that a monther (usually) wants whats best for her son and that she will always love you and eventually, i hope, understand you.

If you let your mom controls you, then you are going to lose your girlfriend. If you really love your girl, then your mom have to accept it, period, and you have to let her know that is is your choice. As much as you love your mom, she is wrong and there is no crime, the only crime here, is that your mom still think way back to segregation times. Love has nothing to do with color, just love and live and tell your mom that you are going to be with this girl and she has to accept the reality that we are living in the 20 century. Also, your mom has to respect you decicion and your girlfriend.

No, interracial dating is not a racial crime. I am a blk female and been dating white men, latino men, indian men etc.....it's about you and your happiness. Your mother has issues of her own and that's her problem. It's your life not her's even though it's hard to lose a mother over something simple but life goes on. Do you live for your mother or yourself?

I feel great about it! I really don't mind interracial dating. I think its beautiful when people can express their feelings and not bow to the status que placed on us by society. People forget the culture of america and so it seems, there isn't what they would describe a "problem" with this situation, They choose not to address it, well the "problem" is people being color blind, to the specifics of the word, BLIND TO THE COLORS AROUND YOU. They are unwilling to accept them and hence they are not there or you are blind to them. I don't believe in color blindness, its ignorance, it needs to change, be aware of the wonderous variety around you and accept it. I Think its extremly interesting to learn about other people's ways of life. I think its really sad that people of any race can simply 'dis' others becuase they are of any color.

That is a hard decision. How old are you? If you're of age to be out and on your own tell your mom she will have to get over it. If you're still living with your parents, you will probably have to abide by her rules.
