There are three parties here - you and your partner, your parents and your partner's parents. Two of the three live in England, so that would be the most logical place to have the wedding. Remember that getting married it's not about laying on a get-together for your families; it's all about you two. Do what suits you better. Holding it in Northern Ireland would be daft, frankly. You don't live there, and your friends and family don't live there. Someone is going to have to do some travelling and if your wedding is important enough to them, they'll be there.
Of course, you could go abroad, but that would be the worst option of all. It might mean that a lot of people who'd like to be there can't afford to be, regardless of where they are coming from. Besides, getting married abroad means giving up the special significance that getting married at home brings.

First of all, congratulations! We were in the same position ourselves and finally decided to get married in Las Vegas for a few reasons. We knew that whatever location we chose in the UK, travelling would be a problem for at least half the family, we found that the cost of a UK wedding was going to be very high, we loved Las Vegas as a city and there are over 70 locations to get married there.
We decided to clear it with our parents before we made a final decision, but amazingly we've now got over 30 friends and family travelling out with us in September. We get the wedding we want for a fraction of the cost, and a honeymoon all in. We've put all our research together in a website if you want more information - www.las-vegas-weddings.co.uk.
Maybe you could get married abroad and then have a small party/family meal in each location when you get back to make sure everyone can help you celebrate? Whatever you decide to do, enjoy it!

My partner parents are all over the UK and mine are all over the other side so this made it difficult for us too. We got married in Cyprus on the 1st of June this year with 25 family members taking it as a holiday. The weddings over there are fantastic and I am so so so glad we choose to get married abroad. Take a look at planet holidays web site and best wishes for you both.

Might be good to get married abroad that way your either gonna please everyboday or nobody. If your going to do it 'at home' then probably the best option is to do it close to you. We've booked our wedding locally to us, which my mum was initially disappointed, but it's just not cost or time effective to be travelling across the country every time you need to sort something, and she understands that now.

Whatever you do, do it for you and your beau. Parents are one thing and your happiness means alot more! Just try to compromise for the two of you then discuss it with the parents. But this site has great ideas!!!! Check it out. I am a wedding planner, but in the US.
