What? Do you REALLY think that by taking your glasses OFF, you're going to magically improve your eyesight? It doesn't work that way.

Uhm...

I lost my glasses in high school and went for a couple of years without them. I got to the point where I could recognize people by the blobs that I saw. My vision continued to deteriorate just as steadily during this time. I'd had 20/20 vision in 5th grade, needed glasses by 7th, and was nearsighted enough to be legally blind without my glasses or contacts by college.

I didn't mean to try your experiment, but I did, and it didn't work. I don't recommend doing without your prescribed vision correction. It took me decades to recover from the algebra I'd missed because I couldn't see the board from the front row. That had a direct and negative impact on my earning power, to the tune of about US$10,000 a year.

If you wear glasses, your eyes will always need some sort of correction for 20/20 vision. All leaving them off will do is give you eye strain & headaches. Depending on what your problem is, you can have surgery to correct nearsightedness. But changes in vision are because structures in your eye have changed - can't be corrected by leaving glasses off.

The method of removing your glasses for a certain amount of time each day is only effective in minimally improving your vision, and only under certain circumstances. If you really don't like your glasses that much, try contacts, or (if you are old enough and have the funds), consider laser or similar vision correction surgery.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding your question, but keeping your glasses off will not make you not need them. I mean, after a while, you might stop noticing how much you can't see, but when you put them back on, it's always like, wow, I can see!

If you get glasses, you'll never not need them if you take them off all the time! that just makes it worse! If you really don't want glasses, you'll want to get surgery or contacts or something.

It depends on why you got glasses in the first place. The person that you should talk to is the person who perscribe them to you and they will have the anwsers for you.

i don't think you can easily cure your vision like that.
wearing glasses just helps your vision. it does nothing to improve it.
if you want to improve your vision, you need to ask your optometrist if you can wear gas permeable contact lenses. wearing those for a couple of years will improve your overall sight.

my vision kept getting worse after the second grade. to improve my vision, my optometrist prescribed the gas permeable contact lenses. they really, really helped.

glasses are just lenses that you look through in order to have temporary 20/20 vision.
