I worry that she'll over heat and dehydrate. She doesn't like electric fans, and won't stay in the coolest parts of the house. Then she is really grumpy!

I just brush my cat a lot and give her cold water with ice cubes in and she loves that. Each cat is different. Good Luck

Put a box that is at least 4 times her size in some corner out of sun, direct heat, etc. Put a hole in the top or top side so heat can escape and put a larger hole at the bottom for her to get in. A dark area is always cooler than a lit area.

Drap your sheets or what not over the bed so they lay and touch the floor. Many cats like to go under here as its like a long flat cave to them.

Show her a dry bath tub, shut all blinds in the bathroom so its dark as possible. A cool ceramic tube is normally always the coolest place in the house. My old siamese on hot days would curl up in my bathroom sink cause it was old porcelin china and would hold the cold very well.

Brush her down real good to remove every last excessive hair on her so she can naturally cool herself.

Fans can sometimes scare cats specially if they are forced near them. The high pitched sound of the engine that we don't hear they do hear.

Make sure she has fresh water all the time. Even put ice cubes in it to keep it cooler. If you can get one of those water drinking fountains for cats. Keeps the water cooler and it will attract her nature side to running water so she will consume more when hot.

If she isn't sitting around panting all the time you might be worrying too much. Cats are far from stupid and will move if they are hot, cold, uncomfortable, etc.

If she is panting alot then she is dehydrated and needs fluids bad. At this point a Vet might need to be involved.

Don't just dunk her in water as this can cause her to go into shock and have a heart attack. If anything use a cool to cold damp wash cloth and just lay it on her body.

A cat is a lot smaller than a human, even a child. They can dehydrate and die all inside of 24 hours.

You sound like a very devoted human.

I always think it must be difficult for cats in hot weather, not being able to take their fur coats off!

I have a very large fluffy Maine Coon who sleeps on a wooden Ikea table in the back of the house, the coolest place there is.

Don't worry too much about your cat. She will look after herslef and use her inherent instinct. Just keep an eye on her and make sure she always has fresh water, and say some comforting words.

I'm sure she will be fine.

Best thing I have found is to buy some normal stone floor tiles and lay them in a shaded bit of the room. you don't have to put them down to stay just lay them on a old towel. Also try a water fountain. It is a pet water bowl that circulates the water so keeping it fresh and cool. Cats seem to love drinking from running things.

Hope this helps

I know some people put a lump of sulphur in the water for their dog. Might work for cats too! However, I have an English friend who brings me 'cooling tablets' for my dog when she goes to England. Don't know if anything similar exists where you live. Anyway, they work for cats too. At the moment the brand I have is Johnson's vita-cool tablets. They really cool my dog down and it's hot where we live in Spain. Try looking for information about cooling tablets on the Internet. You might get lucky and find them. Good luck.

The one thing I do is put ice cubes in my cats water they LOVE it. Cat's will only really be in trouble with the heat if they can't get to water they dehydrate very fast. So don't worry and keep plenty of cold water out so they can drink. They will be fine!

DO you have air in your house? If you have air or a fans only in part of your house she will eventually go in the coolest room to cool off and if she is a goof ball and won't try putting some ice in her water so it's nice and cold.

Cats don't overheat, they originated in Egypt and it's hot as you like over there. Have you noticed that cats can sit really close to the fire or sleep in the airing cupboard or laze about in the sun on a hot roof?
Don't worry, cats look after themselves very well on their own.
