1. Madam Tousseau's Wax Musuem. It's amazing.
2. Any Broadway show. My favorites are Aida, Color Purple, Les Miserables. I heard that Mama Mia is good, too.
3. The Empire State Building. Take the tour and do the whole tourist thing.
4. The Statue of Liberty (for the same reasons at #3)
5. Chinatown. Lots of good food, lots of great culture.
6. The Bronx Zoo. I've never been, but I hear it's really spectacular.

See all the usual tourist spots in the morning while they are still empty eg top of the empire state, spend mid morning shopping (I recommend the Soho district because all the big stores are on one main street and there are wonderfully quaint outdoor vendors) , then have lunch in one of the many little sandwich shops, with a cheesecake dessert, then head back to down town manhattan for a few more sights (check out the expensive 5th avenue stores, if only to lust after the gorgoeous things inside), gravitating toward times square as it gets dark (best time to see it). Later on catch a show on Broadway (some booths sell the tickets for half off when you buy it that day)
