that not all of Christianity believe in the trinity?
I've noticed that one of the questions that is always repeated on here is 'Christians... do you really believe in 3 gods??'
Which would imply that they think it is characteristic of all christian sects. Do they, for that matter, realize that christianity is divided into hundreds of different sects??

*I really want to know this answer and please, I don't want any rudeness from any people who claim to be christian. Just the facts, please :)

Well Donna, it really depends on the level of understanding that the Muslim you ask has.

I am friends with a few Muslims and have acquantances with a few others. A few understand my Catholic beliefs. Others would not have a clue where to start with other religions and there are some of my friends who are Muslims but are not practicing or believers eithers (this would not be admitted by the friend I am thinking of because of the trouble this would cause him). But this is characteristic across many religions depending on how educated towards these issues that people are.

You are also implying that to be a Christian does not rely on belief in the trinity as with your Jehovah Witness friends. With this in mind you already know that established Church groups such as Catholics believe and can prove it (whether you like it or not) that the trinity of God is real and that to be a Christian requires this amongst others as essential doctrines. This however is another argument as you well know.

So in conclusion, some Muslims I know are aware and understand many of the facets associated with following Christ. But the level of understanding is purely an individual and personal matter.

Hope this doesn't upset anyone Donna and God Bless.

I don't believe in the trinity. It is a doctine started by the Roman Catholics during the 4th century after Christ was impaled and not biblical nor having any bible truth in it.
There is proof that God's name rendered in English that is Jehovah (Psalm 83:18) but nothing on the trinity that would be proof. There is only one God and he is not an organisation of personalities but one God personality Jehovah. Jesus is Jehovah's begotton Son and firstborn of creation. The holy spirit is the power that Jehovah makes things become and happen.
A triune god is babylonian and apostate teaching which I refuse to believe a lie or a slander about my Creator.
Muslims probably begin with the apostasy in christianity in the first place led Mohammed to rewrite the bible to his own version. No I do not believe it is correct as God being as powerful as he can I am sure keep the scriptures fairly in good original condition as he intended. God's efforts cannot be thwarted and always brings fruitage.
When I listen to people explain themselves the trinity it sounds so contradictory to what is in scripture. Satan is a grand fooler to mankind.

Well I have noticed that a whole lot of people also seem to think that catholics aren't christians, they, like these muslims you speak of, are not knowledgable in the different denomination's beliefs. The only thing left to do is educate with love, tell them that not all christian denominations believe in the trinity and explain what your faith does believe. They will never know unless they are told.

I don't think that people on either side are fully aware of what the others religion is about. They just have bits and pieces that they put into their minds, and come up with a decision that isn't always rational. There are many, many different sects, and beliefs. It would be nice if they explored the issue further before they lumped everyone into the same category.

Um, the Trinity (or Triune god) is a cornerstone of the christian mythology. If you don't believe in that, then I'm afraid you are what is known as a Heretic. An Abigensian Heretic to be precise. And early christians beheaded them all. I guess a few got away...

I believe in the Trinity but it is only one god. He is all three in one. So if a muslum makes the statement do all christians believe in 3 gods the answer would be no.

I'm not sure what you mean by your question but here's what i think anyway. I know that few Christians believe in one God and of Jesus as a prophet not as a son of God or a God himself which is the core of the Muslim religion. The only disagreement here is that these Christians deny Muhammed as being a prophet sent after Jesus yet Muslims believe in Jesus as a prophet. Kind of like how Jewish people deny Jesus. It's been always like that i guess. I think the problem lies in the priests or Rabi who get threatened by a newer religion as they fear the loss of their religious power. That's my explanation for the denial. But who knows.

Muslims don't understand that the Trinity is a mystery and not expected to be understood.

Furthermore they have such a beef with Christians yet some of their prophets are Judaeo/Christian.

I know, but the Catholics and Protestants do believe in the trinity, and they make up the majority of Christians, so I think you get my point from here.

Alot of people (even Christians like me) are confused by all the different sects of Christianity. It's pointless I think. I was raised First Baptist so know some about that, it's pretty reasonable except for their belief that dancing is evil...that's stupid. Anyways, I wouldn't expect somebody whose not a Christian to understand it all when most of us don't even know. ..I have no idea what a Lutheran, Presbyterian, h*ll I don't even know them all.
