When I say kids I mean 0-2. Just curious what people think. I occasionally take my daughter into a store without them. I make an effort before I leave the house but she hits that car seat and they're off!

Well, if the child is going to be walking around I would make sure her feet are protected. My son is 2 and he recently started this thing where he refuses to let me put shoes on him. He came into the stores with me shoeless. Then he wanted to get out of the carriage and walk but -no way, no shoes, no walking.

Ha Ha...
I am not laughing at you, but that you are worrying about 0-2 and wither or not your kids need socks. While my 0-2 year old is lucky if I put clothes on him....I have a 5 going on six month old who is 25 lbs and because of how hot and humid it is around here, I would rather know that my kids are comfortable and cool rather than looking perfect for the outside world all the time.
I think what people worry more about is a kid that walks and doesn't have their shoes on, but then I have stood in walmart shopping with my kids and my 3 year old decided to take off his shoes and stroll around in socks...remember what it was like to learn you could just slide around on the cement...and that includes the stores.
believe me when I say there will be worse things to worry about.

no, feet are best left naked when its possible its good for theor healthy development ur child only needs to be wearing socks and or shoes if they are walking on a cold or potentially harmful surface so if she is in her buggy or a trolley then bare feet are fine, if its cold try slipper socks, so she can run about inside ur house without slipping if its hot dont forget the sunscreen down there and NEVER EVER put smaller socks on a child so they dont fall off ur daughters feet bones are still soft and this will damage them

i do not think there is anything wrong with it at all if a child does not want to wear socks.. as long as the shoes are not leaving places on the childs foot.. my grandson does this all the time.. and i have to put his socks back on all the time.. he needs a good pair sandals.. i know he has some but they seem to bring different shoes every time.. i think childrens little feet are cute.. and they ride in the cart anyway. and so you can use your own judgement.. i have never had anything said to me about this...i have took him in the store with no shoes and then i went and bought him a pair.. but i carried him and put him in the cart...

If she's walking on her own, she needs to follow the rules of the store and wear shoes (with or without socks). If she's in a stroller or being carried in a sling or backpack, then just make her comfortable.

Shoes and socks help protect the feet from injury and germs. Maybe after you are ready to take her out of the car, put socks or shoes on her. My guess is she doesn't wear them at home.

My son started walking at 7 months and he wore leather high tops.

I do not make my two year old wear sock or shoes if she doesn't want to. However, my rule is that she may not walk in a store without shoes or socks on. If she doesn't want to wear them she has to stay in the cart or her stroller.

If it's an nice warm day - and they're not going to be walking around, then shoes & socks aren't necessary.

The point of socks is to keep your feet warm. They keep coming off, because her feet keep getting hot!!
The point of shoes is to protect them from everything underfoot.

If your child will be carried, and won't be on her feet, then they're not necessary.

My daughter is almost 1 and she has only worn socks if it was cold outside. Being that it is summer she just wears sandles. No point in making the child wear them unless it is crutial to their health.

As long as she isn't in the store walking around without any shoes or socks, it is fine.
