I don't have a dog yet but I already know what I will love about her. I will love the way she loves me, the way she looks at me with those brown eyes, the way she wiggles her whole body when I call her name, the way she smells after a bath, the way she cuddles up with me while I'm reading a book or watching TV,the way she trusts me, the way she get excited when we're about to go for a walk or swim, many other things I don't even know yet. As for hate, well I can't really think of anything other than having to pick up behind her which, given the good vs. bad, I know it's worth it.
To poor simpson I say this.
Until one has loved an animal, a part of one’s soul remains unawakened. – Anatole France
To Steph
Dogs may provide protection but I think they provide much more than that with the love they give us.

Yes, I love most the affection and companionship. I hate most having to walk her 3 times a day and her taking her time when it's so hot! lol But overall, more good than bad. She's the best. I love her so much.

I love the way my dog yawns. He's just like those really obnoxious people who yawn really loud for no reason. He seriously yells when he yawns, and one time sounded just like the ending to the home improvement theme song. It was hilarious.
And I like how he is so protective of the house, we know that if he ever encountered a robber in the house by himself, he would attack.
The bad thing is, is that we found this out after a mishap with my bf's brother. He was just standing there in the kitchen, and my dog sneaked around the table, ran and leaped on his arm and started biting him. Hard enough to draw blood.
Also a bad thing is, is that he's a chewer. He's done a couple thousand dollars worth in damage on our motor home just getting under it and chewing on random things.
But I do like our trips to the park. It's sooo fun. We take him to the dog park where he can run around and interact with other dogs, and he just loves it. I love watching them all play together, cause they can be so funny sometimes, the way they hop around while playing with eachother.
Edit in reply to simpson:
Alot of things are. Skanky name brand clothes, games, computers, yard decor, books.
It's all just there for our amusement. Except dogs actually provide protection.

My dog is super, the way he interacts with me and my surroundings is great. What I don't like about him is that every time we go for a walk, he gets totally focused on bones when he finds them. This includes fishbones, lamb, chicken, anything. No matter how much normal dog food we give to him, it is a struggle sometimes to let him leave a bone.
Oh, and he's so cute when he snores while sleeping.

Yes, I have 2...My first dog, I raised from a 3 week old pup. She is now 10 years old. The second is a Spitz. We got her from the Human Shelter, and is a bit skittish.

Yes. She's a little pig when it comes to food and sometimes I find her bark a bit annoying, but she lets me know when there's someone around - not that she would attack. I love her eyes and use a photo of her as my cell phone screensaver. But how can anyone say pets are a waste of time and money?

I have a mini dachshund named Princess. I love that she is small and can sit on my lap if she'd just stay still. I hate that she is so hyper and loves run and jump. I wouldn't trade her for anything in the world.

I love dogs (and cats), but I don't want to spend the money taking care of one, and I travel abroad so much, it wouldn't be fair for the dog (or cat).
