...when you could stay out til the street lights came on, and being abducted had something to do with aliens
...the only hazaard you faced with lickin' the batter was who got the bowl and who got the beater (my brother got the bowl everytime)
...if you did something bad down the street not only did the neighboor spank you, but mom knew about it before you got home and spanked you too
...penny candy, really costing a penny
...drive in movies were as easy to find as theaters
Not that I'd go back, even if I could, but does anyone else miss those days to?
Now for the teens laughing at the question, cause 35 years ago seems like a million.
What do you look back at, that puts a smile on your face, from the good old days.

well im 28 and i remember those things! and whats up with all the safety precautions they have nowadays that take away from a lot of the fun we had as kids? for instance, i remember when about 10 of us piled up in the back of a truck and went joyriding! if one of us fell out they just stopped the truck and that person hopped back in! LOL. now kids cant ride in the back of a pickup...and they have to be in a car seat until they are 12! whats up with that? back in the day if a child got lost in the store, yo mama let u stay lost cause thats what u get for being hard-headed! now if a child gets lost in the store they issue an amber alert. things have really changed.

I'm not over 35 yet but that is how I remember them days also. And yes I miss those days. I have a ten year old and it is so horrible now.
When I was in kindergarten I used to have to walk about 8 blocks to school and I would never let my kids do that now. My son can't even go to the park with out being harrassed by older kids and imagine my surprise when I walk up there to confront these kids how many parents are up there and none of them intervened. When I was little everyone of those parents would have walked them kids to their house and made them tell their parents what they did and then those kid's parents would have made them march to my house and tell my son they were sorry.
But on a good note we still do have penny candy where I live :))

oh, I so remember those days... not exactly when candy cost a penny but I do remember when a candybar only cost 25 cents... and yes I do miss the days when the kids could be let loose out doors and mom didn't have to have a tracking device on them for fear of someone abducting them... when I was a kid I lived in rural N.C. (boy do I miss N.C.) anyway, my brother and sister and I could walk out the door on a Saturday morning, explore the woods, walk to the neighbors(which was a least half a mile away) play all day and not be home until dark and mom knew she didn't have a thing to worry about.... you just didn't hear about child abductions back then especially in rural N.C. things certainly have changed...

I'm 39 and remember stuff like that. Funny I feel so old like I'm a geezer reminiscing about the horse and buggy.
-I also remember several of us drinking out of the same soda can without worrying that we'd get some bacteria that's too potent for modern antibiotics.
-That if we hurt ourselves in the playground or at school we'd go see the doctor before the lawyer.
-We never had sunscreen 60 that we had to wear. In fact if you got a base tan, that was all you really needed. There was only 1 type of Coppertone.
-And we could bring Peanutbutter and jelly sandwiches to school.

I love this question. I remember all of that!! I miss when you could run the streets freely and get fifty cents and come home with enough candy to make you sick. Man, I REALLY miss those days

I remember.
It seems like yesterday, not a care in the world. Coming home for dinner and going out again right afterwards. Riding my bick everywhere.
My parents rarely knew where I was, but they new I was safe.
I wish my daughter could experience that freedom.

i know what you mean ,i could stay out all night and not worry about anything,go cruising, and you wouldn't get run off. life was more fun,and the times you had with your friends you're still talking about. when cruising around didn't exactly mean you were looking for "tush",just to have fun. those were great times.
