Has anyone been to the ground zero site?? If you have, I wanted to know if you thought it had a chemical like smell that lingered. I know that's probably a stupid question considering the circumstances but when I went the other day; it smelled like chemicals and of course the air was heavy. Anyone agree??

I was here when it happened.
While I haven't noticed any smell emanating from Ground Zero, on occasion, when I have gone into buildings down town, i still get a whiff of the Oder that hung in the air for weeks after 9-11.
Usual an older government building and right when I open the door for just a second. If you were here when that happened, you will never forget that smell.

I've been there. The chemicals you smell probably comes from all the construction work they're doing on the site.

I've been there. I noticed no smell. But they are blasting and getting ready for the construction of the Freedom Tower. Likely, what you smelled was a result of the construction, if they were working that day.

Can't say I noticed the smell - I was too overwhelmed by how such a large space was leveled.

i have been, but i didn't notice a smell...other than the garbage..but all of ny smells like hot garbage (best city in the world anyway!!)
