Yes most definitely. Kind of sad if you ask me. My mom had more trouble trying to adopt a small dog than she would have had if she would have adopt a child. I guess it has to do with the fact that pets (animals) can't talk back, don't argue, you can beat them and most will still stay around.

PROTECT THE WHALES, KILL THE BABIES

Our priority's are really messed up.

I understand your question and so would my mom because she complains about it all the time. Pets are treated far better than humans. I mean for sakes they have their own store now! Pets are driven in cars, taken on vacation given their own bathrooms. People do spend a lot of money sending pets to pet doctors with the least little thing wrong with them when they could give that money to a poor man on the street or a charity. It's nice to have a pet but don't treat IT like a human being. They're animals and sometimes they need to be living outside in the wild where they belong. God made them that way. They'll survive. Trust me.

Pets are not protected more than humans in any country. It is possible, and necessary, to have laws that protect both, but in most countries there are NO laws that protect animals. I work with city animal control and I can assure you that the pets of our country are not getting a lot of protection under the law.

I think you al lare loking at the question from th wrong angle. We have laws to ptotect children and pets. We pick and choose to abide by them. If I saw someone abusing a dog/cat or a child I would be on thephone immediately- complaining to the authorities until something was done to correct the problem.Iam not one to sit back. And I would let the offending adult know I had my eye on him..
To those who say let the animals stay outside, you have a warped sense of pet ownership. It's said
Yes we can euthanise our pets - and we should be allowed to do that to our fatally ill loved one too. Why do we let them suffer?
We do spoil our pets in this country, but look at what parents spoil their children with.
Anyone who doesn't spoil his/her dog/cat a little, don't visit me. I would let you near my munchkin.

I protect an pet any day, before I help a human, because we can help ourself, but most pets can't...that's why we need to help them...
