Have you guys ever thought about the population that were brought over by their parents at an early age? Although their parents came here illegally, these people grew up in America and are as American as the next citizen. They cannot afford to pay for their parent's mistake. Most of these men/women are unaware of their own status until they realize that they can't even attend college because they don't qualify for financial aid. By throwing them out from the country they grew up in just seems unethical and unfair, especially if they are law-abiding all their lives. I think we should let them stay and pay their taxes so we can allow these undocumented Americans an opportunity to pursue the American dream.

If I got border security and interior enforcement and dismantling of the employment and benefits magnets that draw illegals here to begin with, I would support screened legalization of those here (NOT to bring absent family). I would support that only with LIMITED immigration on a going forward basis.

However, that is for a bunch of reasons like long term lack of enforcement and not believing we really have the will to deport honors students, Eagle Scouts and 'the good sort'.

The problem is that even if they pay all taxes, we subsidize education, health care and services for poor people in this country. That is why we and other developed countries limit how many poor immigrants can come, to begin with.

Our schools and services are already failing our own people, and I don't see how we can support both legalization of those here PLUS a new 'guest' worker program, unless the employers directly provide for education and other benefits needed by their employees. Since the reason the employers want 'guest' workers to begin with is for cheap labor, I don't really see that happening in any guest worker program likely to be adopted. That means we will end up continuing to foot the bill, both financially and with decreased upward mobility through education for our own children.

My friends::
As a former would be illegal I have this answer for you
Although many of you over there would rather build a 1260 ft long electrified fence with a crocodile ditch right behind that wouldn't be a real solution Believe me, I have a job and NO DESIRE AT ALL (NO DESIRE AT ALL!!!) to jump the damn border again. Now why do so many of you ask "why don't you come here legally?". The answer my friends is THERE'S NO DARN LEGAL WAY, even though there's a demand for labor (not necessarily "cheap" labor). Look at Germany! With a huge demand for labor has been covering it with Turkish and Asian immigrants for decades! Food for thought-

If you throw them out, who's going to correct your grammar and say that your question should read, "Illegal immigrants: should we find them and throw them out of our country, or let them stay and pay THEIR taxes?"

im not for illegal immigrants but then again if u think about it 400 years ago white people came over here lookin to strat a new way of life and to live in freedome, these southies want the same thing just in a modern day civilization in which everything is run by law, government, taxes and drugs, war, etc.....are ancestors burned down the natives and enslaved them, they took there land, if the natives had laws like we do today it make all of us illegals. i say we just live our everyday live and if u want to do something about it then GO TO THE BORDER AND ENFORCE WHAT YOU BELIVE!!! other then that if your just gonna talk about it nothing will stop, and it may get worser depending how much it bothers you.

Let them stay and pay taxes, then no one can complain that they are not contributing to costs of medical care, food stamps, etc. Which is what the main concern everyone has, and with the breaking the law crap, give me a break, all of sudden everyone is worried about laws being broken get outta here with that.

Illegal immigrants are ILLEGALLY here ... they have broken our laws, right? So why should we let them stay?? Of course people should pay taxes ... I have to ... but, come to think of it, if it is so perfectly OK to break our immigration laws, why isn't it perfectly OK to break our tax laws?? Why are we supposed to make an exception for illegals????

How about keep the ones we have and make them citizens.

Throw any American employer into prison who is HIRING these illegal immigrants. Why reward American employers for breaking the law? Toss them in federal prison ASAP.

No jobs, no reason to come here illegally.

NO you don't let a bunch of criminals who have no respect for the law or OUR country stay. Why would you want to reward them for breaking the law? They need to be arrested and deported. Not only are they breaking the law (several I might add) which makes them criminals, but they are also a threat to national security.
