My 2 yr old orange and white tabby, Jelly, has been acting really werid. He is not eating his food, and he isn't using his litter box.
He always has eaten well and used his litter box until this week, when we fed him some new food. I know how to introduce
him to new food, and put a little bit in his bowl until he got used to the new food. Last night, Jelly pooed all over the place. What's wrong with the poor thing?! I'm WORRIED!!!!

Yes, Lauren is right, please take your cat to the vet.

However, there is view things you need to consider...

1. How clean is the litter box?? If it is dirty and smelly (or new strange smell) cats tend not to do their 'thing' in the litter box, in fact they do exactly as you described below.

2. Moody cats.. if cat is very moody (it not involves runny tummy: you did not say what kind of poo did he do?) so if you see a poo all over the place if could be because the cat is cross about something and wants attention.

3. Marking territory.. was there someone totally new in the house so that the cat feel it needs to 'mark it' again??

4. Bad food: (if running tummy) .. cat cant control itself and just does it everywhere. Immediately take away the new food and give your cat all food. Sometimes it helps not to give milk at all

5. BAT water.. make sure it has a clean and fresh water

6. Something else what needs attention of a vet

BEST OF LUCK

It sounds like Jelly could have an intestinal disorder, but I think you better get him to a vet. This may not be related to the new food. When a cat doesn't eat or use his litter box properly, this is a big red flag that something serious could be wrong. He also could be getting dehydrated, which is very bad. Please take him to the doctor!

I really hope you do not wait. This does not sound like a cat who is mad because you changed his food. This sounds like a sick cat!

did you introduce his new food by adding it into his old food? it can take as long as two weeks for an animals system to get use to a new type of food so perhaps this is the reason for the diorreha.

to make sure he is not sick i would recommend starving him with only water for 24 hours then gradually introducing a blnad diet such as chicken and rice, if he still has diorreha take him straight to the vet if not just keep introducing his new food over a period of two weeks and then see if this happens again if it does go back to his old food.

You should take him to the VET... that seems serious!
I don't know if your cat is castrated, but if he is this might be a problem that often appears some time after they are castrated.
Castrated cats tend to have an infection on their urine canal... that makes them look even fattier that they already tend to be, their owner must always be very careful with what they feed them and be alert to those kind of symptoms.
Hope this was just an indigestion.. and not something serious. I have a castrated cat... I love it and am always alert to it's condition.

Good luck

If he is a neutered male them you may want to take him in and have him checked for Bladder Infection. Sounds like what my cat went through when he had his. The surgery costs $600. Hopefully you can get him in quickly. FYI: For those of you who have a neutered male cat, you should not just be feeding him dry food. Make one meal wet and one meal dry. This will prevent Urinary Tract infections in your cat. If your cat has already suffered one, then you should be feeding him Friskies Special Diet wet and dry cat food or some other diet brand.

You dont say why you changed his food. If you need to change it you should start by mixing small amounts of with the old food. Gradually increase the new food ratio. Any time your cat has a change in behavoir you should call a vet.

Sounds like Jelly is moody. If it doesn't clear up in the next week call your vet. It may also be the weather; my Stimpy has been the same way.

Its quite obvious my dear your cat and the new food do not mix well switch back to the old food for a day or so and see how he is. If theres no improvement take him to the vet.
