You are actually the first person I have ever heard suggest that God might be in of need worship. Which world are you the god of, that you could imagine God in "need" of even the slightest nod from YOU.
True worship of God constitutes an alignment with the his doctrines, a cause much greater than that of the individual self.
If you could even begin to know the meaning of true worship of God, you'd know that you and your surroundings are the true benefactors of your worship of God.
Ergo, the question might instead be: "Why do YOU need to worship God?" If the benefit is yours, the need is also yours.
Restricting the worship of God to polite acknowledgment would seem to serve your own ego in a self-exalting, patronizing manner while attempting to establish a position independent of God.
A king politely acknowledges his subjects, not the other way around.

Do you love your parents? Do you love your kids? Do they love you back? Maybe the answer the first is no. Maybe you would answer to the second question you don't have any. But let me use those two illustrations as an example.
Why should we love our parents? What's the point. I mean they only moaned at us when we wanted to do fun stuff. They embarrassed us in front of our friends. They show the woman we love those embarrassing photo's when we where kids. Why should we love them? Because they deserve our love and respect. they have been there fore us when we needed them the most.
The same goes with the second and third question. I'm sure if you have children you want them to love and cherish you. You don't deserve it, but you still want love.
God made us and worshipping him is a way to show him that we love and honour him. He does deserve our love and worship. If you don't worship him, he still is God. Its just that you don't give him the respect that he deserves.
You need to worship God. You probably don't agree, but the fact is you do worship something if not God. Money, sex, your car, family, work, sport or something else. We all worship something the only problem is they don't give us satisfaction. Try worshipping the true God

The reason that Christians worship God is not because God needs our worship but because we worship what is important to us. One way to find out what is important to you is to look where you spend your time, energy and money.
Are you worshiping your bf/gf, playstation or sports. This is an area that i think you might have a little backwards. The best way that i have heard it put is Worshiping God is not a have to do but we get to do it.
Because if God just wanted worship he would've made us all robots to the tune of that is all we would ever do. But when we were created he gave us free will and in doing that He knew that some would worship Him and some would choose to follow their own path and choose to worship everything from a tree to themselves.
Also if you look at the Old Testament and look at the first commandment
" `I am the LORD your God, who rescued you from slavery in Egypt.
7" `Do not worship any other gods besides me.
8" `Do not make idols of any kind, whether in the shape of birds or animals or fish. 9You must never worship or bow down to them, for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God who will not share your affection with any other god! I do not leave unpunished the sins of those who hate me, but I punish the children for the sins of their parents to the third and fourth generations. 10But I lavish my love on those who love me and obey my commands, even for a thousand generations.
Deuteronomy 5:6-10
First thing that is said in this is I have delivered you from a life of slavery which at that time the Jews prayed to be free of cause the egyptians were slave drivers. So then comes in moses and with God leading the way God delivers his choosen people.

I would also say "Why does He require belief in Him?"
I find some religious beliefs to be contradictory, or just nonsensical. If God is so nice and benevolent, why wont he accept people into heaven if they are simply nice people.
If I was a tribe member (another of Gods creations) in a country that had not been exposed to Christian beliefs, I would not have had the opportunity to believe in Christ at all... let alone worship him!,
And this God, you say, wont allow me into heaven when I die, even if I live a holy existence???
If He does not allow such passage to Heaven, is He such a nice and benevolent God after all?

God deserves worship just as we deserve love. I do believe that God created everything and since he did, nothing short of worship would be good enough for him. Of course worship doesn't mean going out on a street corner, throwing yourself in the middle of the road and start shouting that God is awesome. It should be done on a personal basis. But since he did create us and everything we love and that loves us, I think he deserves a lot of worship and praise.

God doesnt need worship!
However man does not even know how to respect himself or each other, nevermind God. Worship is another way of holding ulitmate respect and honour for that which seems so beyond our comprehension - Creation itself!

God is complete in himself and doesn't require anything from us. However, realising that we can be so forgetful and careless, we have been given instructions on how to remember him.
A father is always providing for his children, but it is more sweeter when the child wants to share something with the father.
Mankind has this nasty habit of mostly remembering God when they want something and forgetting God at all other times.

I'm thinking that God probably doesn't need worship, that you can "worship" God by trying to be the best you can be. And that organised religion says you need to "worship" in order to keep the coffers full.

God doesn't "need" it. We do. In worshipping God, we become better people. Our worship does not change who God is, but changes us to see Him in a better and greater perspective. Unlike most of us, God knows who He is!!

God doesn't need worship. God speakers need worship. And God speaker worshipers need to feel they are special, so they worship God speakers who appeal to their arrogance, pride & vanity by telling them they are special.
