Why do they feel they have to tell other people what they think about Jesus etc...? And why do they speak in riddles? And why do they tend to cite sentences from the bible which are 100% unintelligible? In my country (catholic), religious people are nice and soft, and don't annoy other ones...

"Catholic" is not the name of my country, Jeeez... it's the religion of my country...

Oh I forgot: we have Jehovas, they are annoying...

They ought to keep their faith for themselves that's all I wanted to say, no offense. I don't try to convince people about the purity of my soul and my intentions, do I?

Detail: someone reminded me that they are not 'jehovas' as most people call them, but 'jehova's witnesses'. Sorry for the confusion. But still they should not ring my doorbell all the time, it annoys me... But they keep coming back...

Why do some religious people (mainly US) have the urge to annoy others?

I don't think that most religious people have the "urge" to annoy anyone. That doesn't mean that they aren't annoying at times :o).

Why do they feel they have to tell other people what they think about Jesus etc...?

Maybe they are just trying to tell others about Jesus, not so much what they think about Jesus (even though that's what they do). It probably comes from the fact that Jesus told his followers to be "witnesses" of their encounter with Him and to develop followers for Him. Here are a couple of Bible verses. Hopefully they're not to difficult to understand. Jesus said:

"But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses" (Acts 1:8) . . . and . . .

"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” (Matthew 28:19-20)

These Bible verses show that Jesus told his followers to tell others about Him.

And why do they speak in riddles?

I dont' know if they intend to be difficult to understand. I rather think that most of them try to be understood. But even Jesus spoke in "parables" (Matthew 13). Those who really wanted to know what Jesus taught and stood for would make the effort to find out.

And why do they tend to cite sentences from the bible which are 100% unintelligible?

Are the verses I quoted to you above unintellible? If so, I don't know what to say or do. They are from an easy to understand version of the Bible.

In my country (catholic), religious people are nice and soft, and don't annoy other ones...

I'm glad that the people of your country are "nice and soft". And, I also think that more "christian" people in the U.S. should be that way.

But here's what I would like to encourage you to do:

Don't compare people with people. Just simply look at Jesus. People tend to go to extremes. Jesus was the one individual in all of history that was truly "balanced". Don't let the fanatically religious people discourage you from seeking to know and be like Jesus. And, don't let the people of your own country deceive you into thinking that they are exactly like Jesus. Jesus was kind and at the same time a powerful witness of His relationship with God and was not ashamed to be identified with God or His followers.

Love, joy and peace to you.

Those "Jehovah's Witnesses" keep ringing your bell because they are TRUE Christians who imitate Jesus Christ by preaching the good news of God's kingdom to ALL people. By doing this they show their love for Jehovah and for people despite their imperfections. For example, do you recall when Jesus spoke to the Samaritan woman at the well (John 4:7-30). Her religious background didn't stop Jesus from speaking to her. Read the prophecy from Jesus recorded at Matthew 24:14 and tell me what other religion is truly fulfilling that prophecy today. In harmony with Jesus' prayer at Matthew 6:9, Jehovah's name is being, and will be made known to all people despite attempts to remove it from the Bible. The New World Translation version of the bible fully restores Jehovah's name. However, if you have the King James version of the bible, you can see that God has a name at Psalms 83:18.

I don't know what country you're from but here, Catholics are so confused, they don't even bother to read the bible. As a Catholic, I know of no fellow Catholic that is "soft" In some cases they can be as hard-bitten as those conservative denominations are.

Why do they cite passages like a comedian's one liner, just to show off. To show others that they read the bible or listen to there ministers.

But remember one thing, citing bible passages is one thing, understanding the meaning and living by those meanings are another

I could never understand why religious pressures are so high in this country. Who cares if you are Jewish, Catholic, Methodist, Protestant.....whatever. As long as you are a good person, these things shouldn't matter and they shouldn't be pushing their faith on someone just because they feel differently. I agree, we need to stop worrying about faith and start living the faith we believe in without forcing others to believe with us. Everyone has a right to their opinion even when faith is involved.

"Jehovah" is the name of Almighty God, so there is only one. A few ignorant people refer to Jehovah's Witnesses with the plural of the divine name, but that is incorrect and blasphemous.

What does the bible say about those who do not want to hear about the bible?

(2 Timothy 4:3-5) For there will be a period of time when they will not put up with the healthful teaching, but, in accord with their own desires, they will accumulate teachers for themselves to have their ears tickled; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, whereas they will be turned aside to false stories. You, though, keep your senses in all things, suffer evil, do the work of an evangelizer, fully accomplish your ministry.

Clearly, Jehovah's Witnesses work to please the Almighty, rather than a complaining anti-Witness. That is in obedience to the head of their congregation, Jesus Christ:

(Matthew 28:19,20) Go therefore and make disciples of people of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the holy spirit, teaching them to observe all the things I have commanded

Secularists and fundamentalists in this country seem to think that it is their duty to cram religion down everyone's throat. Now it is even becoming part of our politics (not that it wasn't before). It is sad that people cant have faith in their own beliefs without forcing everyone to believe what they believe. It is weird, although I am not Christian, I do think that Catholics are the least likely of all Christian, Jews or Islamics (there should be one word to describe all three, considering they are pretty much the same) to cram their ideas down everybody's throat.

I have never met anyone from Vatican City...
Christians are commanded to spread the Gospel( translated, good news). They do it because biblical Christianity states that,,,
" All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.." " The wages of sin is death".. and " There is but one name given, that a fallen man might be saved,, Jesus Christ".
What you view as annoyance, Christians view as a desperate plea to save you from destruction.. I am only obligated to tell you of God's love for you, and that he has a plan for your life that far exceeds anything you could dream of on your own.. You do with it what you will.. If you do not want to here from Christians, don't ask questions we will answer.

We are instructed by Jesus to go out to all the world to make disciples. Also, being a christian is part of me and I hope it shows. As far as annoying you, I'm sorry that you feel that way. If you express yourself to the person annoying you, then that person should tone down any explicit evangelism, but you can't stop them from being who they are and showing Jesus Christ through them.

First of all, it is our responsibility to spread the word of Christ's love and peace, however, it is not to be done in a rude or aggressive manner. Anyone who shakes their finger and says you are wrong in your beliefs or is not kind and gentle in their sharing is not spreading love the way God intended. Not all people are that way, unfortunately, it's just those loud, obnoxious ones who get heard from the most because of their need to prove to anyone and everyone that their way is the only way. Not true!
