shade and the wonderful chemistry going on in the leaves

"Another way trees and vegetation cool the air is by absorbing water through their roots and evaporating it through leaf pores. This process uses heat from the air to convert water contained in the vegetation into water vapor. A mature tree with a 30-foot crown transpires approximately 40 gallons of water per day. Evapotranspiration alone can result in peak summer temperature reductions of 2 to 9°F (1° to 5°C). While this process reduces air temperatures, it does add moisture to the air. The positive cooling effect of vegetation usually outweighs any undesirable gains in humidity."

It's NOT, It's only cooler on sunny days and that's because the leaves block the sun. On a cloudy day It's the same under the tree as it is in the open.

The tree has leaves and the leaves are green, you know that when photosynthesis takes place the radiant energy from the sun is taken up by the green pigment called chlorophyll, Therefore the air will always stay cool under th trees.

Interesting question.

Well infact it'll actually depend on the size and folage cover on the tree. Air passing through/over a tree picks up moisture from said tree this causes the cooling effect. The bigger the tree the more moisture that it gives off.

why is it cooler under any shade? - because of the shade.

why is it even cooler when you are in a forest than just under any roof? - due to the amount of waster that is "drank" by the trees and evaporated from them (via transpiration). when liquid evaporates temperature decreases. wet your tshirt and put it on if you dont believe.

Honestly, Did you really want to know or were you just trying what funny responses you can get for your 5 points?

The leaves on the tree block the sun's rays. The sun is that big yellow thing in the sky that's hard to look at.

The true air temperature probably isn't but one loses the radiant heat from the sun. Note a thermometer will not measure true air temperature in the sun because of radiation.

shaded from direct sunlight, and water is always evaporating from the leaves via transpiration, thus cooling the surrounding air.
