Of course! It really has vitamins and minerals for the baby and yourself as well. Carrying a baby takes a lot out of a mother and the baby can take away your nutrients as well. You have to replace what the baby is taking from you naturally and give the baby the nutrients the baby will need all at the same time. I hope you have a happy and healthy baby. Oh yeah, please make sure that you attend all your prenatal appointments to make sure you have smooth and healthy delivery. If you want better tips on conceiving, consult your doctor or a fertility doctor.

Standard advice is to take the pills. There are many things in it besides folic acid that will help that baby come into the world happy and healthy. It is to help with the diet change that you're going to have to go through, and to make sure that you have all the vitamins and minerals that the baby is going to need. Not everyone eats the best, and even if they do eat well, there is often stuff that they're missing because they may not like a certain food. Take the pills.

Standard advice: Talk to your doctor!! Most prenatal supplements will need a doc's prescription.

Taking prenatal pills is more a benefit for the baby than it is the mother, though folic acid is believed to help aid conception. It's more important to be taking them so that the baby gets all the nutrition it needs without sapping yours!

My doctor told me that I should start taking the prenatal vitamins (with folic acid) three months before trying. Folic acid helps to prevent birth defects.

This has nothing to do with your prenatal vitamins. Doctor estimate your due date my LMP (last menstrual period). This estimate can be off by as much as 2 weeks. That's why they do an ultrasound to get a better idea of how far along you are. You should be taking your prenatal vitamins though. If they make you sick (like mine did), try taking them at night or ask your doctor if you can take regular children's vitamins instead. Good luck!

Prenatal pills won't help you get pregnant but you should take them for several months to a year before getting pregnant and thru out the pregnancy.

You can buy them at walmart or you can get them from your doctor.

I don't think the pills will help you get pregnant, but they will definitely help you have a healthy baby. It is good to start taking them before you try to get pregnant, so the baby gets all the nutrition is needs as soon as it is formed.

sigh, I get this question a lot as a nutritionist.

prenatal vitamins do nothing to help you get pregnant.

Also, you should not take prenatal vitamins if you are not pregnant, you get plenty of folate in your regular everyday vitamin, not to mention regular vitamins have more of every vitamin then prenatals do except iron which you are never supposed to take if you are not aniemic.

also don't listen to the silly miths about prenatal vitamins making your hair grow, as I have already pointed out the are not as potent as a regular vitamin is, not to mention the fact that vitamins do not effect hair growth (it is controlled by hormones)

Prenatal vitamins will not HELP you to get pregnant. But if you are planning on becoming pregnant, I think they are a good idea. And no,. most dont need a prescription. You CAN get them by Rx, but you can also buy them at Wal-Mart, CVS, Walgreen's etc.
