If you're humble, one could take plenty of ribbing and teasing from not so close friends, but acquiantences. On the other hand, if properly used in certain situations, it could be considered a social skill. Of course, each situation is different and this is a broad, general question, yet how do you feel about acting humble?

It depends where it is coming from. Someone with low self esteem who appears humble could easily be taken advantage of by their peers. Also, humble people may have a harder time getting recognized in school or at work because they don't make their contributions known and are less likely to take credit for their work. On the other hand, being humble, yet confident in yourself at the same time, is great. Too few people have this balance, and when they do it's just great. It's a lot of fun being around someone who doesn't take themselves too seriously, and who doesn't feel like they need to throw their success and accomplishments, and anything else about them in your face.

I think everyone should be humble. They're nothing worse than someone who's "tooting their own horn". These people look so ridiculous. (My boss is like that.) And by the way, one can be humble but still have personality!
