My cat cannot drink milk or eat cat food, red meat or chicken, when she does she brings it back up. I have to feed her tuna, which she doesn't seem to mind. Can anyone tell me more about this?

I have took her to the vets a number of times and he told me to give her tuna, and shes had antibiotics and everything else! She is a small cat and quite fragile, but shes my baby and i just want her to be well.

I would say maybe it's not the food but hairballs. I don't know if there is something in the tuna that helps with the hairballs. I can't really give you a good answer, but if you have the money call a vet. They will probably take a stool sample.

Myself I feed my cats Iams with hairball control. My one cat doesn't get sick anymore. My other cat if he eats cheep cat food he will have blood in hes feces. Iams is expensive but it does last longer than cheep cat food. Cheep cat food has fillers in it which makes the cat want to eat more.

Maybe get a small bag of Iams and see if that does any good.

Milk for cats is a no most cats are lactose intolerant. But a diet of Tuna is not good at all. I can not imagine a vet recomending you feed your cat Tuna. Once in awhile as a treat yes. But as a daily food NO. The cat is not getting the proper nutrition from Tuna. She would not live long eating tuna only. have you tried differnet types of canned cat food. I would find another vet and get her off the Tuna!

I have a cat (now aged 13) and since he was about 2 he refused to eat tinned cat food except for HiLife tuna flakes and now is on a diet of tuna and complete biscuits or IAMS or a similar food and he is fit and healthy and the last time he went to the vets apart from vaccinations was about 4 years ago with a bladder infection and nothing since

Most dogs and cats have an intolerance to lactose. You need to ask the vet if an all tuna diet is good for her. He might be able to give you some help on nutrition.

hi,
even my cat does not drink milk. the moment i place a milk bowl in front of him, he throws up. that is because a lot of cat and dogs cant digest the lactose in milk. my vet has asked me strictly not to feed him anything which has milk or similar contents in it. i dont know about the meat or chicken, but my cat who is now 4 yrs old stays only on fit32(dry cat food), he dosent have the tinned ones, nor does he have any other brand, if he does, he will throw up within minutes. so now we just feed him-royal canine fit32 or hills diet food, and he dosent mind it.

I would take your cat to a vet; it may just be the texture of other foods which she doesnt like, but not drinking can cause kidney and liver failure. This is very unusual; she may have something wrong with her gullet, in fact it could be a number of illnesses, b ut this cat needs immediate help from a vet.

Please get her checked out by the vet as soon as you can. The milk could be lactose intolerance; but with solid foods that's a clear indication that something is wrong. Tuna is too salty for cats and it is not a balanced diet.

Cats should not be given Milk really as they are lactose intollerant. They usually do like it however, but that does not mean it is good for them. Give him boiled cooled water to drink.

If he just likes tuna, then thats fine. Just give him that.

My one really only likes Chicken dinner, but sometimes I give him the cod flavour and he eats it.

Give him a seperate bowl of biscuits, Iams are very good. My cat adores them ,and sometimes I sprinkle them on top of his meat dish, just a few, but he does like it.

>:) good luck

my siamese cant have cows milk and if she eats chicken is sick,i think she just cant digest it coz it comes up whole, she is only small so i think her small tummy just cant take it. she drinks water and whiskas milk.tuna isnt a good idea all the time. try dry food or very little portions of wet food, good luck.

I don't think that's too uncommon. My mom's cat is lactose intollerant, so it can only drink water. Are you feeding it wet food? If not, you might wanna try just dry food and see what happens.
