There is no point, that's the point. What is the point of NOT getting too attached to earthly things? The result is the same anyway.

Hello, i think the point is not to get attached earthly things, but if we do it, it's because we have not even understood that if we are in earth is for discovering the not earthly things.

This is the point which eludes almost everyone whether religious or otherwise.

Some believe in enjoying earthly life to the maximum because they realise it is a short life and others think about utilising it to to try and understand higher purposes.

The key difference is how some act in total disregard for any future outcome.

For Christians, it should be a matter of balance.

We can't treat this life as if it were the ultimate existence.

Yet we can't dismiss this life as if it means nothing whatsoever.

Initially, God created this world and it was good, and there are echoes of God's truth and beauty within it. There are things to savor in good ways, things to enjoy. It is the world where we first search for, meet, and experience God. It is the world where we interact with other people and learn how to love. Everything we learn right now, we will learn here.

So we can't dismiss this world.

At the same time, it's easy to treat this world as if it is all that there is. We can end up making transient, impermanent things our focus... and eventually those things will pass away, leaving us with nothing. We can place things ahead of people. We can find ourselves looking for gratification rather than building relationships. It's very easy to be distracted, since there are so many good things here.

God says that one day he will remake this world, just as he resurrects dead bodies. So this world will pass away, but it is still worth something -- just as our bodies are mortal and temporary, but God promises life and restoration to the same body.

So the point is, enjoy the fruits of God's power and imagination, but always remember why you are here and who you are and what you are called to do. Make the latter the priority.

You're absolutely right. However as humans, we do get attached to some things more than others such as family.

I will say that since I've changed my mind about money, I've been so much happier. I no longer worry if I can buy this or that. As long as I can provide for my family with food, clothing, and shelter, then I am happy. Things really don't mean much at all.

if we are here for short time, what is the point also of not be attached to earthly things?
we can't get detached from this world by ourselves, we may get aversion, that is a different side of the same coin.
we need help from the people of transcendence nature to help us to get out of here.

Jesus said in Matthew 6:19 "Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in Heaven, where neither moth or rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, that is where your heart will be also".

Do not put much importance on earthly things, they are only temporary. The car you're driving around in now will one day be in the junk yard. The house you're living in will one day be lived in by someone else.

We've all heard the saying "You can't take it with you". I don't think that's absolutely true. According to what Jesus said in Matthew, we can send it up ahead of time. It's just a matter of what we value.

The point is there's no such thing as an "afterlife". That's why it's good to get attached to Earthly things.

It's easier to go after all the shiny little baubles than it is to appreciate the intrinsic rewards of a moral existence. A big part of life is broadcasting what we've got to flaunt, and you can't exactly broadcast virtue... and who'd envy you, anyway?

That's the point, right, to be envied? Immediate gratification? It's our humanity. Not justified, but certainly understandable.

We're all just stupid people.

I think that's 1 of the main points of Christianity. You really shouldn't get attatched to tangible things, so you can focus more on intangible things. You know, like charity and love and helping others. Of course it is impossible not to get attached to something, but more important things should come first like helping others before you die.
