Equal Opportunity is legislation to ensure that all persons have an equal and fair chance at securing say, a job. That you cannot be discriminated against on the basis of your gender, race, religion or political beliefs. Its to try and ensure that a good crosssection of the population is represented in society ( like women and ethnic minorities are represented in the job sector) Although there is some debate about how effective this legislation is.

Equal Opportunity says that the school will not discriminate against anyone for things like gender, age, race, religion, disabilities, etc.). This way everyone will get an EQUAL and non-discriminatory OPPORTUNITY to learn or do something.

Equal opportunity is when a visible minority gets the job even though he or she is absoutely not qualified. But because a quota needs to be filled, the minority gets the job.
